Default New C5 owner needs help...

Hello Everyone,

I'm a fairly new C5 owner ('99 FRC) searching for some help.

After a pretty heavy rain storm I noticed that my headliner was pretty wet around the windows (more so on the passenger than the driver but damp on both sides) and I'm not having any luck on finding information on how to remove the headliner.
I'm also looking for any help on removing the window mouldings/weather striping so that I can replace/reinstall them while using a some 3M silicon seal/caulk.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks In Advance!!!

PS-Hope that this was the right forum to post in.

I know nothing about the FRC hoodliner so I can't help you there. The door seals, roof-line seals, should be just fitted into their respective slots. Not really anything magic about them. Window adjustment of course as needed. If the seals are damaged in any way, replace them.

Is there a DIY or "how to" thread somewhere on here that would be helpful for removing the seals? I don't want to damage any clips/securing hardware.

Thanks for the link! That's a big help with the seals/weather strips.

Now if I can find the procedure for removing the headliner in the cabin I'm all set. Removing the interior pieces for the A piller has me scratching my head...

I did this with an '03 Z06, so I assume it's the same on the '99. The A-pillar and B-pillar covers just pop off - no tools required. The clip in the back-center comes off much like any other interior panel clip by prying it out with a forked tool. The biggest issue I had was with the sunvisors. You have to insert a screwdriver into a slot in the bezel, then turn the entire sunvisor as a lever arm against the screwdriver. See this post..

The bezel that the post is asking about (which is still in place against the headliner after removing the sunvisors) can be removed be slightly prying out the interior tabs with a small screwdriver.

I too had a small leak and it was due to a mobile window replacement company breaking the plastic seal that runs the entire length of from the bottom of the window to the top back corner of the roof inside the door. I ended up replacing it with a new one, then adding some black silicone for added leak protection. It's been dry ever since.
