i just painted all of the normal plastic center console pieces. they look great and now i would like to paint the two pillars and the under dash part that is connected to the foglight section. trying to get them to shine like the other pieces is my goal.
If you didnt do a multi step prep before painting you will have trouble with peeling in the future....also need to use a paint specifically for plastic.....again, prep is the secret...
I want to paint the radio/ac bezel silver. I was wondering if it would scratch easily. Did u use a clear coat?
yes i just primer for a few layers sanding with a higher paper each time. same thing with the paint but i did a wet sand. after it cured i clear coated it 3 times with lots of time in between. then 1000 grit-1500-2000 wet sand. then to shine its using rubbing compound followed by polish. so far it resists a good deal. if i did get a scratch i would just do some polishing depending on how bad the scratch was.
