Default Good Deal?

Hi All,

Looking for some feedback from the group. I am negotiating a price of $22,900 for the following 2000 Convertible C5. http://www.dmcorvette.com/index.php?...no=C52000R0012

Is this a good deal? I appreciate your input.

Thanks!

I would say for the year the mileage and the condition of the Vette, "IF" you can get it at the $22,900 you would be making out real good! $25k well I'd keep looking!

Thanks,Matt

If they don't take your offer they're crazy!
I wouldn't pay that much.
Good luck.

Doubt they'll move much-they are not known for "dealing" at D&M.

I don't know where you are, but 22k is '04 money here.

Edmund's puts the spread at...
$13k trade in, $15k private party, $17k retail.

That's with every option selected and "Outstanding" condition.

If the car is in great condition and is the color, has the options you are looking for don't be afraid to pay a premium.

I paid $16,750 for my '99 TR coupe. It had 72k on it but was modded with 5k in mods that I was going to do anyway. I feel like I got a great deal. If it is what you want pull that trigger.

I'd say the price you are offering is kind of high for a '00 C5 - even with the low miles. I'd say it is worth more like $18-19K or so.

If it were a (non oil consuming) 2001 with all the changes I would feel better about $22,900 vs a 2000. Love the color combo though. Just remember, what is it worth to you. That is all that matters.

I paid $27,300 for my '04 vert similarly equipped last year. It had 15,000+ miles and was in very good condition. Your offer seems a little high for a '00, but if you really want it go for it.

Too much money. I sold a really clean 01 M6 Vert with 40K on it 15 months ago for $19,500. Having said that, if you like convertibles and you get it, you will love it. They are a blast.

Good luck.

I agree. There aren't many pristine 6spd Convertibles with 16K miles for sale out there. Low $20's is not a ridiculously high price for a mint C5. IMO the year no longer matters as much on the C5's as does the mileage and condition. And if it's the right color and needs nothing, that makes it even better. If you are going to put a lot of money in performance drive train, suspension and brake mods and custom rims, interior and body panels then look for a lower priced higher mileage Convertible since you will be changing everything anyway. But if you want a stock unmolested C5 that needs nothing, then you are likely to pay a premium and $22k isn't that extreme.

Make sure that it doesn't need tires or tire pressure monitor sensors. New Goodyear EMT tires are around $1500 balanced and mounted and the TPM's can run around $450. Use that as a bargaining tool. One thing I noticed from the pictures is that it has the standard base leather seats, with only mention of the driver seat being power, and it doesn't have the F45 suspension if that matters to you. But it does have dual climate control. I would try to get the car for $21K, $22k maximum but if it's exactly what you want and you intend to keep it long term then go for the extra $900. Just realize that dealers will not give you anywhere near that price in a short term trade if you decide to sell it anytime soon, so make sure you want it.

I've been looking for a few months. They aren't the only ones wanting top dollar for low mileage cars. I've found several in that price range, in IL. There's one in Springfield with 23000 on the clock for $25,000, and it is loaded. Nice color, my favorite. There is also one in Washington that is a 6 speed. The one in Springfield is an A4.

As its been stated, if it is exactly what you want, i.e. color, transmission, wheels, and other options then $22,900 isn't too much. On the other hand, don't expect to get over 25k on the tires so you're within 8,500 miles of spending some large dollars. Trade-in would be around $18,000 at best so be prepared to get some use out of your investment. DRIVE IT.

Thanks for everyones input. Thats what I love about this forum. You always get great feedback.

I wanted to let eveyone know that I purchased the Vette last night. The car is in excellent condition and rides like new. The guys at D&M Corvette made me a great deal and are putting on Corsa Pace Car Exhaust today. I will post pictures as soon as I can.

If you are in Chicago find some time to stop by and see the guys at D&M Corvettes. They are very knowledgable and straight shooters. Plus the inventory will have you drooling for hours.

I am very glad I purchased my first Vette from them rather than a regular chevy dealership. I got to meet the owner and even some previous customers that came in to shoot the breeze. Very much a club atmosphere and I hope to purchase from them in the future.

It is great to have my dream come true!

Thanks again!
