I just purchased an 04 Z06 last week and am now contemplating putting an extended warranty on it since its low miles (under 20K). I just got off the phone with the GM extended warranty (GMPP) and they said since my car is over 6 years old and a Z06 they cannot offer me anything. She said if it was a base model it would have been 3 year 36,000 for 2,670, 4 year 2,790, 5 year 2,945, but since it was a Z the only place she knows of would be a place called warranty direct. I called them and they told me they DO offer coverage for a Z but only up to 6 years old, mine is 7. Is there anyone that has had this experience? Thanks in advance
You won't find a good extendend warranty company to cover anything over 6 years old.. Most won't cover a Z06 period.. I mean come on, a Z06 is a Corvette engineered to drive off the lot and straight to the race track. Even If it has really low mileage ,,the insurance underwriters look at it as a track car that is going to get beat on and may be garaged and used as a track car only every other month.. Thus having low miles..I'd rather have a high mileage daily driver than a low mileage track car.. There are great low mileage Z06 cars that have been babied.. No Doubt! Try to tell that to an Insurance underwriter.. Its like telling them you want a warranty on a 2001 Dragster with only 300 miles on it (1/4 mile every weekend) Its cheaper to just fix it yourself at this point in the game.. These cars are pretty reliable as it is... Of course anything is breakable if you beat on it enough
I bought an aftermarket car warranty from smartautowarranty. I think I went through warranty direct to buy it. Bought it 10/07, $50 deductable, 72 month or 100,000 miles, $2045.00.....I have only had to use it once on a rear seal which was around an $800 bill. Paid the deductable and had not an issue. I wanted the gm extended warranty but bought the car after it was already up. As of this far haven't had any other issues and the one I did have wasn't a hassle.

Go talk to the service advisor at a dealership, ask him which warranty companies they have issues with and which ones they dont.
Allot of dealers dont like the aftermarket warranties because they either slow pay or dont pay and its a hassle; so find out the whos 1st then avoid them.
I talked to my dealer I got the car from and he said he would call a couple other chevy dealers and a higher end dealership later that day to see if there was anything available. Got a call back and he came up with nothing... I guess I should put the money toward a new clutch and mabey a differential.
Is there anything I should look out for on sale or a GP to ****** up to keep till the stock part breaks? I will not be beating the car and only see minimal track time. Also how bad is it to hit the rev limiter in first for a couple seconds?
