I hate being held up for money! It feels like someone walks up to you and sticks a gun in your back and says hand over the cash. I am used to tuning my own bikes with a laptop and my Dynojet program and Power Commander. I'm used to having the ability to check my fuel tables and changing the values if and when I mod the engine with aftermarket stuff, or store different tables for different applications.
I know I can buy an expensive HP Tuner for an outrageous amount of money(the stick up part) but am used to just paying a $300 price for a FAR BETTER and simplier program WITH tech support like Dynojet offers.
So here's the pitch.....contact Dynojet and ask....When are C5 owners going to get their awesome products?
I love my HP Tuners and have loved using it! Worth its weight in gold to me!
It has helped me and has allowed me to help my friends with their Vette's and other GM vehicles!
It has also helped me understand my Vette way better than O thought I ever could! Contact Diablo Sport they have a platform tuner that will allow you to do other things to your Vette in the price range you want.
Sorry Rick, it's not even close to a fair comparison. I've had the dynojet on several bikes and have hptuners on my 00 FRC.
The depth and breadth of capabilities offered with hptuners is far beyond what power commander does. I agree it's spendy, but cliches aside - well worth the money, get what you pay for, etc. Hptuners does have an excellent community forum and there are a lot of people out there willing to give pointers.
Think of it this way, Power Commander is like working in 2D. Hptuners is 3D.
Buck up for it and don't look back. For giggles, try out SD mode and the 'autotune' support and you'll see what I mean.
you don't know very much about HPTuners - certnly not enough to knock rthem. The Dynojet is toy compared to HPT.
And I'll put their customer service up against anyone.

I still say it's too spendy....But I'm sure they appreciate the kudos from you.
I've used the Dynojet program VERY effectively on the dragstrip.

I have the "Autotune" feature on my Power Commander and it was easy to read and decide if you wanted to accept the changes or not and save different tables for the dragstrip or street.
have the hpt for the camaro and have that car converted 2bar OLSD tuned, love being able to fine tune everything. SOOOO many different parameters that you probably will never get to see with the P-Commander

Two totally different products. Those handhelds give you only a "generic" tune one size fits all. A true PCM tune will modify a crap load to tables but only adjustments that "your" car calls for. Every car is different hence the need to drive it and data log everything and then make necessary changes. Go visit a reputable tuner and see exactly what they do. Youll be amazed at the difference from just pressing Yes No buttons on a hand held tuner.
Getting HP tuners can be another full time job due to so much stuff to learn. Its not just a bunch of simple questions like the hand held boxes do. (ie do you want a power tune Y/N? ) Some guys dont mind to tune it themsleves since they have the time and enjoy it. Me, i just let the pros handle it so i can enjoy my ride while I can.
Dynojet just emailed me and they will offer to build me a cable and new CMD tuner they currently offering for GM V-8's. I have to call them Monday and talk to the developer.

They offer them for some cars already......Let's hit'em up for one!
You have to pay if you are going to play....This "golden rule" applies to every thing you do to a vette. The costs just go up or as sometimes stated a Corvette Tax..This is one reason why the experience, knownledge, and friendship are so valuable on this forum.
had a super chips tune, handheld.......best tune i have had yet. $75, used
had a HP tune, car lost power, didn't shift as good.........programer error. (not going to name names) $100, waste
waiting for full chassis dyno tune on the 25th............ pre payed???????????? $350
details to follow
Right on, right on !
I'm on the fence, got a tune scheduled for last of March. But may end up getting a Tuner program and take care of our club members. I hate being held hostage and have no recourse for tuning in my area.
