Another Value Question
Car has 30k, and is on original tires, back ones seem worse than fronts so I figure they may last the summer. Would you knock ~1500 off for replacement cost? Looking at tire rack it seems the Goodyear f1's are about $1400 which obviously is not the installed price.
The fan for vent and AC is LOUD, esp at the highest setting. From searches this could either be a drain issue, or a drop fan and get rid of the leaves type of thing - or a replacement which someone said was about a $250 part. Is this a huge deal?
The driver's door glass seems looser than I expected. I know it is a frameless window. Is this normal (did not check the pass door), but with the windows half down, both doors rattled a bit when closing. Is this simply a matter of removing the inner liner and adjusting some bolts or more complex?
The Autocheck report came back clean - owner stated car has been sitting for a couple of years in the garage due to kids and life getting in the way. Autocheck seems to support this, based on mileage from 5 years ago and now. Does this present any additional issues, or concerns?
The car only has the painted top. How easy is it to find the glass top, and are they a standard piece - easy to get a good fit?
I am thinking of offering around 18k, based on kbb and edmunds, as well as the overall condition being good. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance
The tires all need to be replaced. Tires have a life expectancy and it's usually about 7 years, regardless of use. The rubber wears down making them not safe. So if they are original tires then they need to be replaced. You can see when the tires were made by the dates on them. To learn how to read the dates since they are in code just google tire dates.
In mine the windows are a bit loose. It's just the way these cars are made I always though. When it's up all the way and door closed it isn't loose but if the door is open or window open then it feels a little loose. The whole car feels a little hollow and there are rattles here and there.
If you have any suspicions then just pass. But that mileage on a 2000 is a pretty good car. Your offer sounds fair for both parties considering you are looking at around $1500-2000 for parts (tires, possible AC, maybe window mounts, etc). You can usually pick up tires for about $800-1200 though. But OEM brand/model will cost a good chunk so its fine to say 1500.
