Seat cover install
Hey gang, I had a question for those that have installed seat covers. Did you remove the seats to install the covers or did you leave them in the car while installing them? (Ihave the neoprene style covers)
You have to remove the seat!! My wife did my seat covers in about five hours from start to finish. Vette essentials has a How do on there site here it is!! (Not sure about the neoprene seat covers)

I've installed both the Wet Okole's and the CoverCraft neoprene seat covers and both required removal. You could probably get away with just unbolting them to get the bottom straps secured but I just take them out since it's 90% of the way there and much easier to put the covers on out of the car. Plus, I like to vacuum thoroughly the carpet while I have the seats out anyway.

Taking the seats is no big deal, 5 minutes each. It will make the cover install so much easier, could not imagine doing the covers with the seats in the car

Thank you gentleman...the seats will be coming out...maybe I'll even find a pot of gold underneath my seat, or at least some loose change to cover the cost of coffee!

You just might, I did find a few coins under mine. Good luck with the seat cover install.
I re-uphostered my seats with new leather/vinyl. Not sure what neoprene covers entail. Do those go over the old upholstery?
To remove the seats takes 5-10 minutes. That is a good time to clean the carpet under there also.
It took me about 1 hour per seat to re-uphoster them using a hog ring pliers and hog rings.
Entire job took under three hours. You could not remove the old uphostery and install the new without removing the seats.

I doubt you'll ever get the covers installed without taking the seats out of the car. Easy to do - just take out the four bolts holding the seat to the floor and then unhook the electrical connections.
A word of advice - be sure to cover your sill area with a blanket or some rags so you don't accidentally scrape them up with the seat rails.
I installed neoprene covers (Covercraft) without removing the seats. No problem
With whos hands?! Any advice on how to get the over the seat belt and between the seat and the console and fitted properly under the seat would be appreciated!
On to the seats! I started by unpacking the new Coverking covers
next I removed the seats remove caps on front of seats pull the pins remove 4 nuts on all for corners unplug any connectors should you have power seats at this point pull seats out and place on desired working area
Seat is now out and ready for covers.
slip bottoms on over the stock covers
insert back through seat
connect the to main straps on left and right of seat pulling them nice and tight there is two more straps to connect on each side. Connect by pulling them tight and hooking onto the seat frame. pull everything tight and seat bottom is done
next slip top covers onto seats again pull thought bottom of seat stretch tight and attach to other portion with velcro teak and adjust the covers at this point pulling them tight then your ready to drop back into the car
rebolt them down and connect any and all connectors at this point. Reinstall caps repeat same steps for secodn seat and your done out some will look like this
While we were at it for install for this customer we aded a hydrocarbon radio bezel and remounted his Sirius radio so you could close the ash tray lid and not see it when not in use.

The only tricky part for me was getting the strap under the seat to the rear. I taped the strap to a stick (or was it a yardstick?) and slid it under the seat to the rear, connected it to the rear strap and pulled it tight. Of course, I raised the seat up all the way first. Getting the cover to fit over the seat bottom was not an issue.
