I know this is probably a dumb question, and YES, I HAVE SEARCHED... but when you guys hit the lock button on your keypad, does your horn honk?
My '99 Z, '00 Z, and '02 Yukon all honk. Both the camaros let out a quick double honk, the truck just does one honk. The vette... nothing. Thought it was odd, until I tried to start it one day last week, and it wouldn't crank. Did it again, nothing. Went to get the spare key, cranked right over. Thought the chip may have been at fault. I leave both keys laying on my dresser, so I haven't been paying attention to which ones I've grabbed in the meantime. Went to go move the car this evening, and again... won't crank. Just drove it today, I know the battery is good. I'm going to let it sit until this weekend to troubleshoot it. It just pissed me off, because I'm dealing with overheating issues, and now this. Just hoping the VATS hasn't in some sort of way been messed with
IIRC you can turn on/off the Honking feature with the door locks. should be able to change it in the DIC (driver info center on the dash). Sounds like you could have something wrong with the key or may need to retrain the key. If the spare key works everytime then i would say something screwy with the key. I don't remember the key programing proceedure but its on here somewhere.... it says to put the key in and leave in the on pos for like 15 min then off then on again a few times and it will reprogram your key to the BCM. with some searching you can find it here on the forums, might be worth a shot.... again could be something wrong with the chip in the key.

Wow, my skin almost crawled reading that lol. Reason being, because I had a 2000 TA that I had to do that with one time lol. And yes, it did work. I'll go try that right now. Thanks Monte!
