i can never get all the fluid out of the bottle like that.
a pump is the best and easiest answer and the one i will use.
Actually any hand pump you can buy at your 5 & dime auto parts store will be a sub standard tool... They always leak at the point where the tube fits over the end of the pump nozzle..... and the tubing they supply is waaay too short. The long tube method is the cheapest, cleanest and easiest method, but suit yourself.
Best are the lube pumps that are made for outboard engine lower units and can be found in WalMart made by Attwood. No leaking.
I have now changed my rear-differential twice in 30,000 miles as I got my car with 32,505 on the clock and now have almost 66,000 miles. I'll probably do it at my next oil change for which I'll probably be due in about 2,000 miles as my DIC is down to 24%.
Did it just after I got it with 55k. Have put about 30K since,,so it might be a good idea to change again!! I used RP then,,probably will again. To BenC5,,,with RP,,,you don't need additives,,,it's already in there!!
Yes, itzza, the forum consensus is that RP is good. Even better that it does not require us to put any friction modifier in it. It is just so expensive.
Note: This product comes with friction modifier already in it and extra modifier is rarely needed to prevent diff chatter in a C5 (not so for the C6). However, some chose to pick up a tube of the Slip Lock Additive and either keep it handy if diff chatter does occur, or add in a few ounces to ensure there is no diff chatter. I run mine without extra additive. AMSOIL Slip-Lock Differential Additive (Product Code ADATB)
And the pump mentioned above for the DIYer: AMSOIL Hand Pump (Product Code G2039)
That's a good price on the Amsoil synthetic lubricant compared to discounted prices on AC-Delco lubricant.
Probably should have mentioned that I'm happy to get forum members dealer wholesale pricing, about 25% below retail, via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Drop me a PM if interested.

Did mine today... One of the only things I hadn't done yet. I used Royal Purple. I already had a quart in the cabinet, so I only had to buy one. The fluid looked dark and was probably due at 83k miles! Thanks for the reminder.
I have used an air compressor and a bottle of lube with a tube thru the cap you put a little air in the botle via a small hole near the top and it works great..... Not too much pressure or boom
