Who has companies that do insurance for collecter cars and stuff like that? Is it any cheaper? I think my coverage on teh Vette is kinda high with Mercury. Since I Do not drive it much I am wondering if a company that specalizes in collecter cars and stuff like that would be a better option.
I just switched over to Hagerty and I did get quotes from Adam, etc.. For my 2002 Z06, which is heavily modified, w/ 50K stated value, 0 deductible, it was around 560/ yr..

Mercury wants almost $900 a year with no declared value and a $500 deductible. Hopefully Hagerty or Adam can do a little better than Mercury.
mercury is pretty exspensive to begin with!! i had mercury as my first insurance on my mustangs.. when i dropped them and went to state farm they litterally dropped my monthly payments about 55-60%
Haggerty & Grundy both have declared value policies & are highly reasonable on rates. But they do have a bunch of restrictions & other criteria you have to meet before they will touch you. Neither have a milage restriction. It has to be garaged, you can't drive it to work & there maybe a couple more. I Have Grundy on my 55 Chevy Pro Street P/U & with $15,000 value I pay about $230 a year.

Regarding Grundy, the president did a Q+A a while back and stated that you can take the car to work, you just cant take it to work every day (not a daily driver). No milage restriction and you can drive it every day (yes I know, that looks like a contradiction, just relating what was said, they apparently cover daily pleasure driving but not daily transportation type use). Also no drivers under 25 and an additional (daily driver type) car for each driver in the household.
The restrictions may be problematic for some owners but they work fine for me, love the policy/terms/cost
I just switched to Hagerty. It was only a bit cheaper then State Farm but the real difference is I insured it for 55k and if there is a total loss that is what you get, not book value.
I have Ameriprise through Costco for my 2000 with full coverage, 100,000/300,000 incl uninsured motorist, towing and rental with a $250 ded for $316.00 a year. Told them I drive about 7000 miles a year.
I think my policy with StateFarm is pretty reasonable. I pay $5400 a year for insurance on 5 cars, 2 motorcycles, a boat, homeowner's with a million dollar liability umbrella, a personal articles policy, and a life insurance policy.
I switched from my USAA to NCM and saved myself a ton of money. I paid a few dollars more to get the "occasional drive to work" rider. I only put about 1500 miles a year on the Vette and this policy made sense for me. Plus, I now have agreed value coverage, should the worst ever happen.

you cant beat USAA for a daily driven car though.
for my 00 vette, 08 mustang, and 03 explorer plus home insurance and a 8K rider for jewerly, high end electronics, and firearms, i pay 200 a month.
