Default Speed Lingerie Question.

I just bought an EB SL bra and I was wondering if where the plastic brackets go inside the fenders behind the screws, do they scratch the paint when you remove the bra/them?

Seems to me it would be a better design if they were located behind the lip of the bumper.

You loosen (don't remove) the four (I think) screws just inside the wheel well and slide the bracket under the screw heads with the notch on the down end. Then re-tighten the screws.

When you remove the bra the brackets are supposed to remain installed on the car.

Did this help or did I miss the point?

It helps, but not what I wanted to hear lol. My car is EB so those will not "blend in" when the bra is removed.

I will only use the bra on long trips, so I will be removing the brackets and bra.

I wanted to see if there were scratches left behind.

What color are the brackets? I would assume black since they should blend in with the black wheel wells/scews.

There black, but the bumper lip is EB.
I guess I'll have to install it and see what I think.

Got it. So the black brackets extend over the bumper lip. Yeah, that might take away from the look. Perhaps some EB touch up paint for the brackets?

the brackets slide in behind the screws and should stop before the the lip of the blue fender lip. if your worried about the part that is stepped were the screw go threw i would not worry . i use mine for long drives also i like there fit, i leave my brackets on you dont notice them at all. i can post a pic if you need one.

I recently purchased a SL bra but haven't started the installation process. A picture of the brackets installed would be great and any pictures of other areas of concern. Thank you...

I have not noticed anything yet. they fit nice and tight dont think it moves much or flaps at all plus the inside of the bra is pretty soft
Like i said dont have it on all the time but does see alot of highway use
Also the hood conn. is not visable you open the hood and i believe it hooks below or behind the bumper not right to it

Steve

Flashback alert! I had the same thing on my 1986 IROC-Z! I think I bought it at Trac Auto!

I left it on during the winter months (Chicago) thinking I was protecting the car from the winter salt/snow, etc. only to realize during my first real spring cleaning/detailing that I messed up the paint. What can I say, I was young & didn't know any better (even though I thought I had everything figured out).

I remember someone here said they put it in their dryer for 15 minutes or so to help warm it up....for the stretching you'll be doing to fit it. I might try this and see how it does.

I've had an EB Speed Lingerie bra on mine for at least 6 years. Always use it for long drives, but usually have it on all the time except when stored for winter. I leave my brackets on all the time, I can't even notice them when the bra is off.

The nose has been repainted a couple of times and it doesn't take long to get road rash damage when the bra is off.

When the bra is on, you should remove it and clean behind it occasionally because it is amazing how much dust and misc can find their way inside. And yes it is a tight fit but there are the openings for the air intakes.

I have not seen any permanent damage from using the bra. Much better fit than the LeBra of the 80's
