I just bought an 02 Z06 and I am loving it so far! However, when I tried lowering the car on the stock bolts, I had some problems. I did the rear as much as I could without cutting the rubber stops with no problem although it didnt seem to make a lot of difference. The front bolts will not turn though. I have tried jacking the front, taking the wheels off, doing it from underneath on a 4post lift, and jacking the leaf spring as well as not. The car has 37000 miles on it, could the bolts be seized? The car is still sitting pretty level so it doesnt look bad with just the rear lowered in fact I think it just made the fender gaps uniform from front to rear. I still dont like not knowing why the front bolts wont turn though. What should I do?
Spray a lot of PB Blaster on the bolt and let it soak in. Last week I cut about a rib or two off on the rear bolt bushings and cut the entire front bolt bushings. We made a smaller piece of rubber to protect the A-arm from the bolt and my car is slammed! It looks great and didn't cost $20-40 for a silly lowering kit.
Ya I tried that... only I had the front of the car on jackstands then jacked the leaf spring.
jack up the a arm to relieve the pressure off the suspension. use a piece of wood or pile up some rags. if you do remove your front bolts to cut the bushings i recommend that you unbolt the brake line bracket too. it helps to move the arms further to wrestle the adjustment bolt out of the lower arm.
