I tried to access it without dissasembing the intake to no avail.
I did not want to wreck the plastic plug for the sensor with the hangar.
3.5 hours to do the job include running to O'Reilly's for the intake gasket set. I am happy I changed intake gaskets while doing it.
Also, even if I got the sending unit out, I never could have plugged the sensor plug back in without intake removal. My hands are too big and the replacement from Borg warner was slightly taller than the OEM piece so it was difficult enough to get the plug & wire to reach the top and plug it in with open access.
I got mine at O'Reilly's. It is a Borg Warner and is $39.99. I also picked up a sending unit socket there (it has the rounded edges - 3/8" drive) made by Lisle for $9.99

Sweet thanks we have an O'Reilly's right on the corner.

If you use the hole metod. Get a set of Hemostats. There are cheap, get a whole set at Harbor freight for 10 bucks. Get ahold of the tab and pull. Get the old unit out. Place the new unit it with the hemostats and then use them to reclip the wire connector. Easy pleasy lemon squeezy! Hemostats! Not just for smokin non filtered stuff.
