Default Parking Brake Issues

Swapping out rotors and pads on all four corners. Fronts...no problems. Rears- Pasenger side no problem. Rotor came off and went back on easily. Drivers Rear a completely different story. While removing old rotor....the parking brake shoes seemed to be rusted to the inside drum. I sprayed PB Blaster inside to help loosen rust. I hit the face repeatedly with hammer in hopes on knocking rust free, nothing worked. So I pulled and hit with hammer from backside until it finally came off.....everything came off to include the the parking brake shoes Now I've been trying to get the parking brake shoes re-installed but having no luck.

Does anyone have pictures of the way the spring should look like when installed in the parking brake shoes and any tips or directions to get this re-installed? I'm really close to putting it back together with the parking brake shoes and not using the parking brake ever again!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

That spring can be a PITA to be honest.

I don't have a picture saved but I've seen one on here recently.(it may have been while I was looking through archives though)

Anyway, try searching using the "title search" feature or if not just hang tight and I'm sure someone will post up that can either explain it or post a pic.

Do like vettegirl says in the mean time and go look behind the e-brake shoes on the passenger side for reference.

Hey ourblk96
Go back into the "search" tech section.
Look for an article (pictured) dated 7/30/2010 by Blue 92
Thread would say"New product-parking brake install tool
only $49.95-corvette forum."

It will show you where every thing is located & an esier way to install
the pesky spring, using simple zip tie's.
Good luck.

PS. A funtional E/brake is an extreme plus!
