Well my girlfriend and I went to DC on Friday and were just driving around the city since it as a really nice day. About an hour into driving in the stop and go traffic, I went into the console to get something and man it was cooking in there. I've read posts where people complain about the temps created from the tunnel and now I get it. By the end of the city driving I think my butt had grill marks on it! So now when I upgrade the tunnel plate, I will definitely be getting one with the thermal abs.

To save money you could just put some insulation in the tunnel once you drop the h-pipe.

The aftermarket tunnel plates are nice, but that's a LOT of money for something you could make yourself for much less if you enjoy that sorta thing..

I recently purchased a piece of 1/4 " aluminum at a welding shop for $ 40 bucks $5.00 for a dewalt drill bit. like others have said put some insulating material in there and bolt it back up.
