Default tailight screw covers????

somewhere along the way, i lost one of the screw covers that was on my car when i bought it a couple of years ago. remembering that i had seen someone posting that they were using something from the local big box home improvement store i went happily trotting over to my local home depot with a sample in hand and the guy in hardware looked them over and stated they didn't have anything like that in the store. what they did have was something that you actually screwed into place with the screw to be covered and then folded over a cover. of course they didn't have anything near the smaller size need for the tail lamp screw openings.

what are you all using (if you are) and where did you get them??

thanks for the help.

Yep, Lowes is the place for the little black hinged screw covers. I think they work nicely!

I was at Lowes today and picked some screw covers up. I'm not sure they are the right size but when the vert comes out of storage I'll give it a try. Less than $1 for a pair and they come in basic colors black, beige and white.

I remember these items when the original thread was posted but just never got around to buying some. After seeing the pics again, I think I will see if my Lowes has them in stock.

I even picked up 4 or the larger ones for use on my tag. Makes that are look much better too. I went with white since my plate is white. Used Black on my 4Runner as I have a tinted plate cover on that vehicle.

Got mine at Lowe's. The mfg is Hillman & they call them Screw Covers Hinged #4 & 6 black. The item or stock # H#881025. They came 2 in a pkg. I found them in the metal pull-out draws full of various items...I found that using a small socket will help snap them into place. Good luck...

...right now there is a "Regional Supply Manager" at Lowes checking his inventories, wondering why there has been a sudden run on these screwcaps!

Just did the same, picked up 4 packages for the taillights (Hillman hinged #4 & #6 Black H# 881025) and picked up 2 packages of the larger style screw covers for the license plate screws (Hillman hinged 1/4 inch Black H# 881033) as suggested by Allegro. Looks finished.
