Default Wheel value opinion?

I have a set of OEM 2003 Z06 Wheels that were chromed. However the chrome is pitted and peeling. They would be great candidates for powdercoating. They are stamped GM on the back. What would these be worth? And would i be better off getting them blasted and powdercoated before selling them? This is not a for sale thread but if anyone is interested in them let me know as well:
Also, missing one centercap.

'...And would i be better off getting them blasted and powdercoated before selling them?'

I'm not going to comment on the value just an opinion on whether to invest any money in them...I'd say no, you will be able to sell them, only question is for how much, the buyer will know what they want to do with them and it may be nothing.

Thats what i was wondering..I know its hard to find these wheels and they usually sell for a lot in mint condition. Just wondering if anyone has ever sold a peeling/pitted set in this shape.

I would think it would not be worth your time/money to blast and refinish, then try and sell. You will never get out of them what you have in. I think they would go quick "AS/IS" in the AutoX/Roadrace forum for the right price. The missing center cap would not be a problem for a racer.

I'm sure others will comment...but if you really want to sell them, imo, list them in the Parts forum and put a price on them of what you think they are worth and 'open to offers'. JMO, I don't think they are worth much, but hey, what do I know. Seems like people here are proud of their cars (rightfully so) and aren't looking for pitted wheels though I think you'll find a buyer who wants to test something, or maybe wheels for winter or track or like you said, sandblast and powedercoat.

I suspect the problem is the original aluminum base metal is oxidizing and that is what is causing the chrome to peel.
If you want to revive them, you will need to remove the chrome and the oxidation underneath, then powder coat or chrome.
Good luck.

Wow, those are really pitted. In great condition the wheels can go anywhere from around $450-600 - just depends on the buyer. As is, hard to say what someone would pay as I don't know what it would cost to get them looking good again - either for painting or powdercoating.

Thanks for the responses. Ive seen them go for $800+ on here in mint condition. I'm probably gonna create a for sale thread tomorrow sometime. If theres no interest i'm most likely going to get them powdercoated or just use them for winter wheels.
