I did a search and couldn't find any information. Any of you guys cruise around with your toddler son or daughter? I know they should be in the backseat in a booster seat, but my almost two-year old son already has an obsession with cars. I know he will always want me to drive him around and nothing would make me happier.
I haven't even bought my Vette yet I am already looking at getting him to ride with me.
Thanks in advance.
edit: I did a google search and it brought me right back to this website. Found this post if anyone else is intersted.
I believe I've seen some posts in the past with pics but frankly not many.
I know you didn't ask but I have a personal bias by having small children ride with me in the vette. My daughter is now 10 and is starting to ride with me but for me......I wouldn't have anyone younger and certainly not a child still requiring a booster.
I bring my grandson with me. He loves the Vette. When a baby, I had in baby-seat facing back. Now he uses a booster seat.
The most important thing to remember is to shut off the air bag.
my daughter is about 2 1/2 years old now and she keeps asking when she gets to drive in daddy's fast car-man she's cute!!!! I only had her in the vette once in her rear facing seat but I think its time she comes in the vette. I have to admit I've been leary about it but hell when I was a kid we didn't use seatbelts much less child car seats. time to live a little...and drive a speedy 8 km/h when she's in the car
as mentioned above, shut the airbag off! some of the 2000s have the shut off (and all of the newer ones do) but not all do so be sure the check that before purchase. there is a diy airbag shut off switch available but I wouldn't use it and I'm a diy guy.
My two still fight over the chance to ride, so I often take extra trips so everyone gets a go. They have been riding since rear-facing infants, and love the fresh air & sun in their face with top down. Sunglasses and lotion for the longer trips.
The mom-sanctioned general rule is to take the "slow route" wherever we're going, usually under 40mph on side roads. There is much less risk of anything serious happening at lower speeds, and less wind buffeting.
I'll also echo the most important piece - shut off the airbag with the switch in the glove compartment for mid-year 2000 on up C5's. If you can't then no kids in that car, period.
There are no C5 "LATCH" mounting points, so the seatbelt needs to pass thru the back of the chair. Pull the belt all the way out so it ratchets back nice and tight. Put their seat all the way back and up high (for the best view and keep the shoes off the dash!) and enjoy the cruize.

good luck with that one. the minute I tell her to stop doing it in our other vehicles, she does it non-stop. gotta love a 2 year old
maybe she will understand the is different
I've been taking my daughter to day care since she was quite young. I just straped in the carry-seat backwards like any other vehicle. AND I turned OFF the AIR BAG.
She still fits in the carry seat, but I'm fixing to buy the Britax Marathon (which is what we use in our other vehicles.). This will allow her to sit forward facing. I've already tested the fitment of the seat in the Vette and it works just fine.
My daughter loves to ride in the Vette. Probably mostly because she gets to sit up front with me. I never take hwy trips, only short slow in-town trips. And, I'm very driver aware when she's with me. I have a convertible and since she's so young, having the top down on a sunny day is not too pleasant for her - she doesn't like to wear sunglasses and the sun always seems to be in her eyes - plus there's always the possibility she'll get a sunburn.
Good luck to you!!

Reason: add pic
It only has two seats and no back seat...in a perfect world, sure back seat and in the middle of those seats. If the car is new enough you can either turn off the air bag or it won't come on at all due to weight on the seat. I run into this with my truck as well since it is regular cab.
My dad takes my 8 year old son every so often in his 67 and in the 2003. He is out of a car seat now, but we just used a normal booster with the air bag shut off. He is not much of a car person so it was no big deal to him. Now my 3 year old thats a diffrent story. With spring coming dad needs to get the 65 back on the road so he can ride in papa's car.

I came across this page from google and I normally wouldn't comment on a three year old post. However, there is some mis-information here that could be potentially dangerous.
C5s (i've heard 2000+) most certainly DO have a LATCH system. It's not the easiest to find, but it's there. If you look on the bottom part of the seat near the hinge, then move towards the middle slightly, you'll feel a slit in the leather. That's where the metal latch is located. It too me a little while to find it, even with the help of the owners manual. Because of the design of the Corvette seats, most car seats won't get as tight as you want when you use the seat-belt. But securing it with the LATCH system will make it tight and secure.
Again, I normally wouldn't post to a three year old thread, but since it's a potential safety issue and if I found it from google, others will as well.

I was going to post the same as my Z06 has the "LATCH" connect. My soon to be 10 yr old has been riding in her "Red Princess Chariot" for almost 7 years. Definitely with air bag turned off and booster seat. She has even done parade laps at VIR and RD ATL. She will be doing track days as soon as they let her lol!!!
damn straight....daughter has been riding for years. She no longer requires the booster but she likes it in sometimes so she can see better when the top is down!!
What do people do for kid with booster seat if they have a Pre-2000 vette?
If the pre-2000 doesn't have the Latch, you're stuck using the seat belt. Not a horrible or unsafe option, but I feel better using the Latch when possible.

But you still have the airbag to deal with. I cannot find any information on how to get the parts to disable it.
I am also looking for the parts to disable the passenger airbag and replace the seatbelt. I have my heart set on an early C5 but local Chevrolet dealers no longer have the part and the companies in other threads seem to no longer be around.
If anyone has had this install done in Ontario, Canada I would really appreciate a recommendation on someone to do the work.
