Well..here's a foolish question: The seat covers on my 04 Vert (light oak) are in perfect condition, but I would like the two-tone look. I know several vendors sell the interior dye. If I wanted to just dye the sides of the seats torch red, would there be a problem? I don't think I should buy new seat covers when mine are in great shape.
Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks
You might want to consider just buying a two tone set. I also have light oak and wanted a two tone look. I'm replacing mine. If the two tone look isn't what I wanted I can always put my old ones back on. You also have the option to sell them on ebay if they are in great shape or hold onto them if you ever sell your vette. Some people like to keep everything original. Having the original cover couldnt hurt. However, dying them is permanent and if it goes south you have 1 set of ruined car seats.
Sounds like an interesting idea. I'm sure it's possible but remember, prep is everything for a quality finished effect. Good luck and post up some pics when you're done.
to see how you like it without a major committment, you could get a set of the "bolster bikinis" from mid-america - they come in red or black and slip over the sport seat and behind the center section, just covering the side bolsters.
I would ditch the red. Go with Black mats, light oak door wraps and two tone black/light oak seats. That would looks awesome with your woodgrain additions. That woodgrain looks awesome by the way. umm where did you get the woodgrain adds anyway?
I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority though. I prefer Arctic white to red. *runs for cover*
Dave from Madvette and I are going to redo my interior and put in his insulation package next weekend. I already borrowed a db meter for before and after. Pic's to be posted once its all done.
jol, where did you get the wood-grain accents for the dash and door panels? they look very nice and I want some too !!! thanks,Rick
When my son worked for an Infiniti dealer, he got the guy who does the new cars to do mine a few years ago. I never got his card or name but the usual vendors sell the kits in rosewood, burlwood, etc. Check out Mid America and Ecklers.
Thanks,
Jeff
I have been looking around. Seems you can get a full sheet if Vinyl with any type of pattern on it, Wood-grain or CF, for much cheaper if your inclined to do it yourself. I feel a new project coming on. =)
