Think the fenders are shorter-a tape measure is your friend.

That they are... I went with L5's on the rear quarter to change the appearance of the rear fenders. Shaved the rear marker lights and antenna off.

Shorter where? front to back? I know the C6 is shorter.but that because the frame is shorter. I will modify the frame. But will it screw on everywhere else. Around the door opening, wheel well and hatch opening?

Your better off either modding your existing fenders or buying aftermarket fenders for a different look. It doesn't make much sense to try and place c6 fenders on your car. They will not mount up properly, and to make them fit would cost many, many dollars to get it right. Something to consider...

With money, torch, hacksaw, and hammer anything is possible. Even VW fenders "will" fit with work. Did I mention LOTS of MONEY!!!!

Go to a swap meet and get a C6 fender-they are pretty cheap-don't expect many people would have tried this silliness so you'll have to experiment on your dime.

Well my son is currently going through engineering school, it's a project for him to play with. Not asking for approval. I understand that it may be more than some of you guy can comprehend. What's the different between the frame of a C5 and C6 ?
About 4 inches? If you never done this type of work, then i don't expect you to understand. Any one ever been to a custom car show or Watched West coast Custom. I also understand that some of you guy don't have the money, courage or time due to work to attempt something like this. I'm 52 retired and have plenty of time to help my son. After all it's only money.

So spend the $100 for a used fender and have a ball.

This is the type of answer I was looking for. They will not mount properly. Thank you!

I would think it's because they are too short where they mount to the rear bumper. My son had a drawing showing were some of the C6 fender design would be Incorporated into the C5 fender. Like the brake cooling inlet of the z06. Basically looks like your C5 but with inlet and rear short.

Even if you could get it to "bolt up" to something, I think you'll find that it would just keep leading to something else to deal with. Take a look at the entire rear of both cars. They are entirely different design flow.

The fenders wouldn't line up to the rear facia.
They won't line up to the trunk lid (Z06 or Vert) or the hatch (coupe).
They won't line up to the door.
The gas cap is slightly off.

If you want it to look like a C6 check out a couple vendors here that make body panels just for that purpose. Engineering school, while admirable, will not be near as helpful on this project as Body shop trade school.

If you have the time and income then it would make for an interesting project...if I understand it correctly you basically want to have a C5 front with a C6 rear (I think)...It would be doable, but again your talking many, many dollars and hours. I use to be heavily into Mustangs, and I couldn't believe when someone took panels from a SN95 and mounted them to his fox body (79-93). If I didn't see it, I wouldn't have believed it.

Just a suggestion...I understand it's not about money as it is about doing a fun project with your son but maybe it would be easier to create your own panels for something truly unique. The link below is an example...

Either way, if you follow through on your plan post it up, it would be interesting to see.

No I have not, and don't plan to! I was going to buy an extra set of quarter panels and add/make my own flare, but now that quickz06 is working on a set for a decent price, I scrapped the idea...however my next project will be to buy a rear bumper cover and add a 2 to 3" lip on it and do it for a very cheap cost.

I seen an Early C5 cloned to ZR1 last year in Daytona Beach during speed week. I took picture of the dam thing, but i have racked my brain the last few weeks trying to find tham. I had not consider doing something like that then, so i didn't ask many question, but I do remember the guy saying he had to chop the a rear portion of the frame to shorten it up. Had 15k into the project doing all work himself. I'm sure that did not count the donor car and I know by experience that sometime we forget how to add when we do this type of project. I know i never really want to know what I got into a project. Also had the wide body.It was a beautiful car.

I've seen a C5 converted to all 1989 Batmobile panels, so anything is possible with enough time and money

Interesting. I know that member quickz06 is a forum vendor and he sells c6 z06 body panels specific for the c5 but I don't think that's what your looking for...regardless, if you proceed with this project post up some pics it would be cool to see.

Why not buy a C6 and be done with it? Nobody wants a C4 made to look like a C5, why would anyone want a C5 made to look like a C6??
