Breathless Performance Shifter... Hunt Still continues
I am waiting to hear back from a forum member that had two MGW shifters for sale... not sure if they have both moved on. I have however found a Breathless Performance shifter on tha cheap.
How do these things compare? I have never heard of them until today.
I can't compare the Breathless to the MGW, but I can report that a buddy of mine had a Breathless and was happy with it. A bit noisier than the factory shifter, with ultra-short shift throws; the first time I drove his car I thought something was amiss, but I assume its something you get accustomed to. Good luck with your decision.
I was looking for used Breathless shifter a while back and eventually ended up with a Hurst. The Breathless allowed some adjustment and replacement of the shifter arm if I'm not mistaken. I never heard anything bad about them and would have gotten one if I found one.
I've had the Hurst for a year and I've been happy with it.
i am using a breathless shifter in my 02 z. it is noisier than stock but then again so is every other aftermarket shifter. i had a hurst before but switched to the breathless because you can use whatever stick you want and i was trying to achieve a certain look. they were both equally noisy but not something i mind (i can't really hear it over my stingers). it has good adjustability and a good feel. i do think the shift stick it comes with is a little too short so i opted to use a hurst stick from a new camaro that i shortened myself so it is somewhere between the breathless height and stock height. overall i am very happy with it and would recommend it.
Breathless makes good products, They have been making things for the Harley V-rod for awhile now. Thats where I first heard of them.
Ernie use to post of the v-rod forum often .
i've had a mgw in my 04 for quite a while. i went through the stock C5 shifter, the B&M shifter and the hurst until settling on the MGW it was worth the wait. i can't comment on the breathless performance unit, but they are local to us here in south florida and have a good reputation as far as i know.
