[Z06] High volts

High volts
Hello everyone!! I noticed the other day the the volt meter every once and a while goes up pretty high and then drops back down after giving me the "High voltage" on the dash. What do you guys think this is??

How often does it do this? Once in a blue moon, or a lot?
Could be a bad gauge or it could be an alternator regulator problem. Might want to grab a multimeter and test while the car is running by checking the voltage on the battery terminals. (Although there may be a better way to do this.)
