Default Question About The BlackWing (Thanks)

Hey guys, I tried to do a search but I could not find what I was looking for. I have a 99 C5 FRC. I'm looking at the 97-00 Blackwing Intake but noticed at the top I only have one hole which I believe to be for the meter (shows when to clean) but I do not have a hole for the hose.

This is what the 97-00 Blackwing looks like (Note the hole placement at the top of the filter):

Am I supposed to drill a hole for the hose that belongs there? Why does the 01-04 Blackwing come with the extra hole for this hose and not the 97-00?

This is a picture of a 01-04 Blackwing:

Would I be able to just use the 01-04 Blackwing or is it necessary for me to drill a hole in the 97-00 Blackwing? Thanks for your input guys!

You can drill a hole (measure three times and drill once) for the air pump hose.

Or, go to the import section of AUTOZONE, CHECKER AUTO/O'REILLY and look for the after market SPECTRE branded valve cover filters. They're conical shaped, come in different media colors and usually have a chrome top.

Find the one with the rubber bushing OD that matches the ID of the air pump hose. Insert and secure the filter. That will provide the air pump with filtered air.

FWIW, that filter "meter" is pretty much worthless. When I had a "Blackwing", I enlarged the hole to SAE size and plugged it with a plastic snap in hole cover. It looked much cleaner.
