Well, I was proud of my baby going over 150,000 miles, but not long after, the transmission failed while I was doing 80mph. And it wasn't a good sound.....
I was just wondering what an average estimate would be for replacing transmission and clutch, since my clutch is worn. I asked the place I took it to to inspect the clutch, too. The estimate was $5700.
I live in Statesboro, Ga, not far from Savannah, so if anyone has recommendations for a place to take it in this area, please let me know. I've even thought about selling it for what I owe on it (used it as collateral for buying an '02 Harley V-Rod).
New race prepped tranny like an RPM Level V about 3,000
New clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, and hydraulic about 900
Installation of everything about 1800
Total 5,700
Maybe a squideon high on the labor, but not totally out of line.

I agree with Last C5's assessment. You might want to check out some of RPM's distributors to see if someone is close to your location or consider trailering it up to them. This spring, I drove 5 hours to RPM in Indiana to get work done and felt it was worth the road trip. Top notch facility, quality product, and quality workmanship. (level 5 manual tranny, new slave cylinder, new master cylinder, new torque tube bushings and bearings, and rear axle seals - car had 176,000 miles at the time - now just shy of 192,000 miles)
