Default Is 135k too many miles????

Im looking at a 02 z close to my home town, but i felt like the mileage is way too much. I havent seen the car yet and do not know much about it: # OF OWNERS, If any kind of work has been done, etc. Just asking before i get too involved with trading for my 2004 Ford F-350 with only 74,000 miles. And if anyone has any info on this car please let me know.

I have close to 121K and I just ran an 11.1 with a 150 nitrous shot this past Sunday. You are fine. Specially if its a stock engine and the owner took care of it.

Before you do business with him. One question I would ask to the forum members is how much is the Z worth for 135k miles on it. Giving up your truck for the car sounds like a good deal but not a good deal if you getting beat over the head with the price of the Z.

Know what both vehicles are worth so an EDUCATED not emotional decision can be made.

The vette looks modified...... lowered, exhaust looks odd??, and......?
Are you prepared to pay for or do maintenance .
Run a carfax on it.
Do you have a back up vehicle or will this be your daily D? I bought my 97 C5 6 years ago with 143,000 and it has been a wonderful vehicle . But its not a daily D and I can repair things at my leisure.
Can you live without a truck? Can't haul a lot of gravel in a vette.
Do you have a "significant other" , and are they in support of this?(happy wife/happy life).
Good luck with your choice and your at the right place for Vette info!

I dunno...my 99 has 114K on it which comes out to about 8769 a year...its had the blower for over half that mileage installed at around 50K..granted I have had other vehicles to share driving time with over the years including my 07Z which already has 57K on it

i just bought a 00 with 35K miles on it. not a z06 but even still the local chevy dealer here has an 02Z with 50K miles with the KBB print out taped to the window sticker.

I would agree that a lot depends on how well the car has been maintained and what the price is. It's more than I would want on a car, but if the deal is good, it could turn out to be a nice car to have fun in.

12,000 miles a year is considered average for a daily driver vehicle.

The only way I could justify a car with that many miles is if the price is good enough. There may not be much of a price difference to get a car with half the miles.

I always felt like that was way low personally. Don't know where they get that number from. More like 15-20k I think is more reasonable.

I don't think I would make the trade. Your truck is worth more than that car is worth. I can almost guarantee that. If you want a corvette that bad I would take your truck to a reputable dealer and trade it in, and owe a little money, or sell your truck out right and buy one. There are nice cars for sale for little money on this forum, and all around. You have to remember a '02 is almost a 10 year old car. Good luck with your decision.

Two item's, "9th. Ward"

I'd be real, real careful your not getting involved with a "flood Car". Down your way the chance of getting one, especially since the Corvette is so highly prized a automobile. Personally, I wouldn't even trust a Carfax !

If you like the car, I would think you would need somewhere in the range of $5k on top of the Z06 to equal the value of your truck?
