I was looking at purchasing a set of headers (Kooks). I have a Corsa cat back with X-pipe. I was wondering how much HP loss is there with keeping the stock cats? And do the headers bolt on to the stock cats?
Also I noticed that ARH X-pipe is more towards the front of the set up.
How much more beneficial is that compared to having the X-pipe where the H-pipe goes? Like where my X-pipe is now.
My car is a '97 with only 30k miles.
Thanks for your help.
Don't know about the headers hooking directly up to the cats. That is a question best answered by the manufacturer of the headers, or some one here who has done an install similar to the ones you refer to. I changed the whole system to 3" so did not worry about the direct bolt on. Keeping the cats will cost 3-5 HP and IMHO is not worth the pollution it adds. I run RT's hi-flo cats and HP loss is not enough to worry about.
I agree about the polution. If I can keep my stock cats I will.
I am just wondering what the HP difference is between stock cats and high flow cats? and can the Kooks bolt on to the stock cats?

NO, but with a torch anything is possible
If you have a stock engine and intend to keep it that way there is no advantage going to the hi-flow cats.
everyone keeps talking about how bad no cats are for pollution but i had my 72 454 C3 "sniffed" one time by a buddy that worked at a shop and it passed with flying colors. As long as the car is tuned for no cats shouldnt be any worse than one of these diesels that billow black smoke out constantly.
