From what I understand, the only gas that stations are required to sell "their brand" is premium.
The other stuff may or may not come from Shell at a Shell station.

I use gas from any station in my vette and i haven't had any problems at all.
and i have over 100,000 miles......
so based on my own experiences....i believe a lot of you guys are getting all worked up for nothing! (Imo)

All comes out of the same pipe line to the tank farm. Then trucks pick it up and deliver to your stations.
One truck could stop at, BP, Shell, Hess or NoName all in the same trip.
IIRC at the station the additives are put into the storage tank.
Fuel is Fuel. Choose the lowest cost highest Volume station in your area to get the freshest fuel.
In my are that would be Sheetz or Hess.

The truck may make multiple pickups, however it would be in different compartments in the trailer.
Brands are VERY different. The formulations are made by the different brands and can include additives as mentioned above.

there is a minimum amount of detergent in all gas...required by govt, however baby bush reduced the amount which helped oil companies (more profit for him and his oil buds) but hurts the consumer..thanks bushy boy

I would think that the majority of fuel related problems can be traced back to a particular tank at a particular station rather than that stations supplier "brand". It is probably painting things with a pretty broad brush to boycott a brand of fuel due to an experience at one station of that brand. As was stated, top tier fuel at a clean, well used station is your best bet.

How bout we stick to the issue, lest this turn into a debate about how obammy hasn't done squat to slow the price increase of gas?
