I went down a really great curvy country road this morning same as every Saturday during T ball. What a great road for a C5, however, this morning I have simply had it with the stiff/notchy OEM shifter. If only my C5 would shift like my 97 Z28. What is the "best" shifter to buy for ease of shifting and and shorter throw?
Also am wanting to do a flush tail light mod. Who has the best kit?

Not sure about the shifter, But as far as the tails go just make your own kit, All the kit has is 8 spacers and longer screws, You can buy a 1 foot section of tubing from Lowes or Home Depot and cut them to the size you need and get 8 longer screws, All for under 5 bucks.
i have tried a B&M, hurst billet plus and MGW and in my opinion the MGW is the best of those (i still have it in the car, an 04 CE convertible). there are several others that seem to be popular also (in addition to the Z06 shifter). my personal opinion is that you will find most of them stiffer and very exacting, but you won't miss a 2 to 3 shift ever again, lol!! do a search and you'll have enough to read to make your eyes bleed.
When I got my Z06 first I was very disappointed with the stock shift I got the Hurst then but I found it very stiff and notchy I just did not get on with it. Last week I got the TPS 427 Short Shifter with a Hurst **** and I love it I just can't stop driving the car it is exactly what I was looking for.
I did the ole "mongoose Jake" mod with my stock shifter and love it; just gotta have a grinder to take about 1.5 inches of the top of the shaft. You can then screw your stock **** back on.
