I was driving my new (to me) 99 vert home yesterday, and the driverside AC shut off. Fortunately the pass side kept it liveable (100 in Indio). I figured something just got stuck. I went out this morning, and the pass side still works great, the driver side blows warm. I've had C4's for years, but this is my first C5. My question is, is this a common problem? Where is the mixer doors, and how do I access them?
Since his unit seems to operate correctly in all modes but simply blows warmer on the drivers side,he is prob just a little low on freon. If he has other mode issues he may have a vacuum problem.
Mine has done the same thing. I found that pulling the negative terminal for awhile and leaving it lets the actuator reset and then the air works again.
Just search the forum for that. There's also a fix about advancing the teeth a few degrees or something.
If its still blowing cold on one side and not the other, its doubtful that its low on refrigerant. Most likely the driver's side actuator has a problem. Pull your codes as it might show up there.
Do the easy thing first, check the freon.
If that does not work then it may be the actuator.
It depends on what codes you have.
Common codes that you will get with this problem: B0361, B0363, B0441.
If you need instructions on how to get the codes or a code list, PM me and I will send you the information.
This is not a hard job but it does take a while.
Here is a good write up with pictures. http://vette.tnreeds.com/actuator/actuator.htm
When this happened to me I replaced the actuator as the main gear was cracked.
The unit also needed freon to work correctly.

Thanks for the help. I put in a little freon and pulled the battery terminal for a few minutes. It seems to be working fine again. It's going to take me awhile to get smart enough on these to even ask a dumb question.

Do a search, low freon for this condition is VERY common!
