I need to replace the door weatherstripping on my car. Has anyone done it? I have never done it. Is there anything I need to know or special tools i need to have. Any advise will be welcome.
We really need a little more info. Exactly which weatherstrip are you referring to? The one that seals the window at the top, the one that seals the window along the door edge at the base of the window, or the one that seals the whole door to the body?

Sorry Gays and Gals.... was a busy week and did the original post from my IPhone so I kept it to short... At freeway speeds (and above) the windows leak. SO I would like to replace the weatherstripping to seal the windows. Sometimes if I am spraying it down at a car wash it allows water through. So that is what I am trying to do. It is all original and have never done it so I have a lot of questions... how do you determine placement once you pull it off... is there reference marks? Do I need to replace it all because it is original and 8 years old? Anyway, Thanks!
As stated above, very easy install. As far as reference marks, it's a molded weather strip, so you really can't install it incorrectly (well, I guess you could if you tried hard enough). I'f be happy to get the weatherstrip for you. Shoot me an email at kevin@partstaxi.com or call me at the number below and we'll get you taken care of.
Thanks

One vendor is offering an aftermarket weatherstrip at a reduced price although this instant, I don't remember who it is. The GM strip is way out of bounds price-wise.
I was also thinking glass alignment. You can try adjusting the window glass by tilting in the top and see if that fixes your problem before you spend the $$ on a replacement. There's a post on this board with pics etc that walks you through the adjustment process.

easer and cheaper to try readjusting the window first
Has anybody had success fixing the problem with new weatherstripping around the Targa top? I have the same leaks on my 2000 and figured it was time to replace it. On the other hand, if I do and it doesn't fix the problem or it gets worse then I 've wasted time and money. Thanks
