So today.....
So today I picked up my coolant over flow tank from my local dealership as they had to order it.... I opened the box up and there it was not wrapped up, nothing. They just tossed it in the box and didn't give a Fugg about it. Plus the cover piece where the cap goes was just next too it. Now after looking at the tank it has an imperfection on top decently sized and the thing looks like doodoo. My stock piece that is fading looks better then this rubbish.

Tell them to send it back and order you another one. You didn't spend half your money on it so you shouldn't receive something that looks half ok.

Maybe talk to them and see what they can do. If all else fails just pay the extra 20 and get one that looks good. As you said they had to order it anyway so its really no loss to them.

Doesn't matter if they sold it to you for $4. It is damaged goods. It's there problem that they let you grind them down!!!

If it is not acceptable to you, then don't accept it. Take it back and have them get you one that looks the way you want it to look.

I've ordered quite a bit of stuff through my local Chevrolet dealership and have had to have return parts because they were damaged. Some of the things I've ordered have had large amounts of dust/dirt on them and looked like they were sitting in parts bins for years.

I ordered a new one for my race car and it came in an empty box as well... they all come that way from GM. No issues with mine though.

You negotiated a price for a part from a dealership. Unless they told you it was a used/blemished piece during that negotiation, you didn't get what you paid for.
