Help what were your flame costs
The materials being painted are different and if they don't get all the paint laying down the same direction, it just won't ever look right. If they screw it up and try to lay down more paint over the top, it just makes the problem worse.I looked into it recently and decided to spend the $ on other things for now. These are Cali prices, Tampa may be a bit cheaper, but it hopefully gives you a sense of the ballpark.
My guy wanted $5k - $16k depending on how much of the car I wanted and whether it was just a ghost/shadow flame job or a multi-color really intricate job. If you just want your front bumper/hood done and you're satisfied with a ghost flame you can probably get something pretty cool for $5k-$8k.
If you do this, make sure that you SEE the flames he's done on other cars/bikes and that you like his style. There are some flames that I think look too cartoonish and others that I think are half-@$$'d because the shadowing isn't right. Also, if you flame the car you are limiting your resale market to the few other guys/gals out there that share your taste, as a result, the value of your car goes down. If you're ready to sell the car over a bad blend, this type of thing may not be for you...just food for thought.
Good Luck!
P.S. You may want to check the paint/body section and/or a regional section for your area.
