Default Dynatech not standing behind their products?

Guys,

Had to have my gears replaced about a month ago because my old 4.10 DTE gearset broke. The gears were replaced with the same 4.10 gearset that lasted me about 5 YEARS, and they broke in about 3 weeks. 3 WEEKS!

Took it into the shop, and they said that they called Dynatech and they don't warranty their gears. Basically, they don't appear to be standing behind their product. It lasted 3 weeks...and broke.

Has anyone here had any experience with Dynatech in regards to warranty on clearly defected parts?

Yeah, DTE. The fact that I apparently have no recourse is unacceptable to me. Gears that last 3-weeks was obviously a bad set of gears. I broke them in as recommended.

Is Dynatech the same company as DTE? If not, you should have this thread deleted and then begin a new one with the correct company name in the title. Personnally, I'm pretty damn impressed with the Dynatech products I've purchased.

Doesn't sound like Dynatech at all. If it is DTE, have the mods change the title of the thread and then change the reference to Dynatech in the body of the post. Hate to slam a good company if it's not them. And sorry you are having the trouble with the gears.

If you look @ the OP's signature, profile. In it he states as one of his mods(DTE 4:10 Gears). Take it from there.

Dynotech Engineering Inc is the same as DTE

http://dynotech-eng.com/dte_c5_diff.htm

Their "Sport Series" and "Super Sport Series" differentials have a Written 2 yr./24k warranty*
*Whichever comes first. Warranty excludes racing application use, failure due to abusive wheel hop, low oil level, infrequent lube change intervals, differential selected that is under-rated for application, etc. See provided policies/warranties for complete details.

Agreed, I definitely don't want to slam a company if it's not truly them. But Dynotech is the same as DTE (or so I thought), and I typically use those terms interchangeably.

All I want is for the company to stand behind their product. Gears that break after 3-weeks were clearly a defective set.

Last I heard about DTE was the owner left the shop, and literally didn't leave them a single "blueprint" for the new guys to work off of. This came from a good source as well.

I can see your frustration, But you will find very few company's that will warranty a racing part, Been there and done that. Unless you can prove it was defective.

Default My Personal Committment to This Forum

Allow me to introduce myself to this entire community. I am Dale DeRoche - New Owner and President of DTE Powertrain. First off I have followed up on the claim made below with everyone who works for me and they have no knowledge of ever receiving the phone call mentioned. As such I invite sdnet to call the shop at 260-407-5455 and ask for me personally. We will discuss your situation and work for a plan to get your car back on the road. I look forward to discussing this with you as early as Monday.

To all loyal forum followers, Corvette Owners, and car guys everywhere. I personally pay very close attention to all posting regarding DTE and take every word very seriously. I use your feedback to develop my roadmap for continous improvement. As it stands now that roadmap is very simply; restore customer confidence, produce and provide best in class customer service, components, and repair, and clearly to "Stand Behind Our Work" I also welcome your phone calls and visits so please don't hesitate to contact me personally.

I know of no racing gear company who warranties their gearsets. You can go out and in one run shatter them.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase. I am sure you already know this, but the corvette guys usually bring their business to the sponsors with the best customer service. Many of us are willing to pay an extra buck for premium service. Good luck with the shop. Let me start by asking how many different diff's you guys offer for the C5, as well as pricing. I am going blower with my car, so I need to sell my RPM diff and get one with 3.42's.

If you want to prove the defective condition you can find a metallurgist to take a look at the broken parts...if there were pre-existing cracks they will be evident under the microscope.

Thanks Dale. I did get your message and will give you a call on Monday. I am working through OReilly Chevrolet here in Tucson, and as such, you may or may not actually have anything on file from me directly. I have no reason to believe that OReilly was being untruthful to me, but again, we'll discuss over the phone on Monday.

We offer up to four levels of upgraded assemblies each focused on different performance levels. Since our goal is to sell you the right diff without overselling I would recommend you give us a call to discuss in detail your needs.
