Are all C5 key fobs the same in regards to years i.e. are they year dependent? I need to purchase a fob and was looking at ebay. I need a fob for an '03.
Also was an owners manual or CD provided?
Thanks

I believe the 2000-2004 are the same and reasonably priced. The '99 back has a passive switch & is a little pricey.
Owners manual came with all years (can be purchased through Gene Culley (GMPartshouse). Don't know about the CD.
2001 through 2004 are all the same. 98 through 00 use a different system. 00 does not have the passive feature, but will work on 97-99.
Good to know, thanks. I knew the '98 & '99 had the passive switch, but didn't know the 2000 would work on the '98-'99 without the passive switch. I know the 2000 is cheaper than the '98-'99 with the passive switch, so I'll keep that in mine if I ever have to replace mine.
Again, Thanks.

I have bought a few on eBay for like 19.95 each new. Make sure it is for a 2001-2004 C5, As far as owners manual goes there was one with each car when sold new, Not one for the fob.
Mr.Bill
Replacement keys can also be bought on ebay and cut locally for 1/4 the dealer price. You just need to know the resistance.
There are posts on the forum for both translating measures resistance to key # and how to train your fob
In Portland I needed a spare key and fob so I called a key shop and told them I needed these for a 2001 vette and they said no problem. They took my key and found out which key I needed and promply cut one, then told me that they had used fobs and they would sell me both for $45.00 whiich I jumped on.They were also a AAA dealer, maybe that is where they got the fobs.Just a thought.

I did the same here. Went to my local locksmith/key guy. Got a new spare key and new fob for $65.00.
