Default Apsis splashguards ?

What do you think of the Apsis C5 splash guards ? Or whatever your using. They look really nice, but at $475.00 kinda pricey. I'm wondering what's out there that is as simple yet providing as much protection. And using C6 set is even more to buy/modify/install. Looks like there's no easy way down from up in this tree?

I have a friend who just added the wide body kit to his C5. The C6 Z06 splash guards don't fit as nicely on the C5 as they do the C6. He has a slight gap between the guards and fenders on both sides.

I keep looking for a set of splash guards that both fit very well (without having to modify say a C6 set or drill into the car) and are not prohibitively expensive. So far, no real luck.

I have the Apsis guards on front. They are heavy duty, good finish and do not require drilling. I bought mine used on the Forum here for about $150 (Need to get lucky and spot the ad first!).
I was not satisfied with the initial fit and spent some time with a dremel making them perfect---I'm sure most would be happy with the fit out of the box.
It's like fitting the C6 Z06 guards on the rear: IF you're patient, they can be trimmed to fit perfectly! If you're not, you will have gaps.
Good luck!

Got the Apsis on the rear of my C5 for some time now & like them alot. Had the Apsis for the fronts but never installed them as I couldn't get a good fit. I've got the C6 fronts from Gene & havn't gotten around to working on them to fit on the C5 yet.

Interesting, wonder what the fit is like; like if I'm just going to have to take the dremel to them anyways.

Exactly what I was thinking. For close to $500.00 you'd think they fit like a jewel. I saw some others that don't have coverage of the Apsis. I don't want anything where I have to drill or cut up the car. And they have to have double-face tape. and /or use the existing fasteners. You'd think that something as simple as splashguards wouldn't be akin to looking for buried treasure ?

Anyone try these high priced ones:

http://www.amazon.com/Corvette-C5-Bl.../dp/B0013OY396

Guess there is no drilling required.

I have the APSIS on the rears of my 02 vert. Expensive, but great fit. I tried the C6 Z06 guards but was never happy with the fit after spending 6+ hours triming and shaping them. The APSIS rears fit great. I painted them with a black truck bed liner paint so they don't chip.

Please let me ask, did you buy yours from Apsis ? because at their site, they have a pair priced at $197.95, but the recommend ordering the 'rubber' gaskets as well, which brings the cost up $220.95 If I'm not wrong. But that seems both high and as a few of you have questioned that they need extra "trimming" to get a good fit.

In this day and age it seems (To me at least) kinda crazy that you've got two suppliers of full splash-guards, GMPP or Apsis. And both need to be manipulated to fit. i just can't go for that. $500.00 for plastis is just goofy to me. And the alternitive is buying the C6 guards which requirer a good deal of dremal cutting and fiting to get a nice tight body to splashguard meeting.

And I have to rule out the parade of shorties sold by CC or Mid-America and others. But for $39.95 you get what you pay for, and that's no route to go for me. I guess 'Cleartastics' are going to be the only protection for my 2003.

Just a personal thought, but I think the gasket makes them look more like an add on. Most of my friends have left them off, which probably accounts for some of the "bad fit" look on the GM guards.

475 bucks is joke. Do people actually buy those things?

Good luck...

I'll be contacting them to find out IF they'll work with the OEM fenders or if they're designd for just their L-5 flared fenders. Looks very promising though.

Says right on the description that they fit stock C5 fenders. Looks to be a reasonable alternative.

When I bought my rear splash guards from Apsis it was when they first came out & didn't offer fronts. I did have to drill one hole in each fender & used the double sided tape. Great fit no work needed to modify to fit well. I did have to buy fronts & rears of the C6 guards from Gene so I have extra rears now. p.s. If I recall a extra pair of hands helped fitting the Apsis rears to make sure the hole drilled was in the exact right place.

This is an alternative that I am considering. I would color match. I like that they provide a little more protection by extending about an inch lower than the panel. I like the price. Not sure if they look too dated.
