The mods will do very little for you in terms of resale and the car will depreciate over the next year.

Im not saying I have enough money to **** it away but spending $2k to curb my modding bug for a year is not a lot at all.

Anyone know if the LS6 intake is worth it or not?
So Im thinking
LS6 intake
x pipe
vararam intake
Dyno tune
short shifter
those halo tail lights
C6 Z06 hyper silver wheels
No lt headers to maybe keep resale up on it.

Is going from 3.42s to 3.73s worth it? Im thinking no but maybe someone here has done it.

I say save the money for one of these. At that point you will have all of the power you need.

If you're dead set on getting a C6 in a year, then I'd just hold off until you can get the car you want. Or pick up a supercharged C5 on the forum, and be done with it. You can find them for around 20k, and I guarantee you, you can't find a 600hp car like that everyday, that offers what a blown C5 can give you.

Take the 2k and go to a driving school or hpde and learn to drive the car. If you add a 100 HP and still have the driving skills of an ogre, you'll look and eventually feel like a fool. Master what you now have with the car's capabilities, then advance the car and master the next level. Besides, learning to drive these cars at their limit is far more rewarding and fun than posting some impressive RWHP numbers with long tubes and some other mods.

If you are not the owner of the vehicle i would not think about modding it just yet.

You may need to fix one of the common issues found on these cars:

If you need a new balancer and will have a shop do the work it will be about 700 bux

Replacing the oil pressure sensor about 200

New tires about 1300-1600 if you are not buying junk tires.

Gear change from 3.42 to 3.73 would not be worth the effort. Put in 3.93 or 4.10 and save for tire replacement.

Probably best bang for buck is intake and tune, but you wont see that much with it.

IMHO,
If I could do it all over again, I'd enjoy the car as is (it's a great car) and save the cash!
Just for peace of mind

I'm one who buys what I want as far as HP goes. My FRC has plenty for me. If it didn't I would go to a Z06. And if that didn't do it, I'm in deep trouble.

BUT if I were interested in more HP, I would start with headers and see where that took me.

Thats another reason I dont want to get too ridiculous with this one, I dont want to scare off potential buyers next year
Why get a 5.5 C6 My car will outrun and outhandle any C6 or Z06 on the street...wher I live

Keep your C5 stock and invest the $2000 in precious metals like gold or silver. At least you'll yield some return for your money.

I rent out two homes that are paid off right now so making a few % on $2k isnt a big deal.

Looks like Im going to get C6 Z06 replicas from a vendor on here. LTs, x pipe and a tune and then call it good for performance.
Ill do some engine dress up, those halo tail lights and some interior stuff and be done.

Default Mods

I did'nt go with longtubes because i'm holding out for one of the sponsors here to get more built. I did the following:

Better Tires with new tps (KDWs)
ls6 Intake
Axle Back Exhaust (Granetelli)
Z06 Shocks (OE GM)
Full Fluid Changes to all Synthetics (RP engine oil, Amsoil tranny/diff)
New Plugs/Wires (MSD and NGK)
Baseline Dyno with mild tune

I think you should knock those out to get a could platform to build on.
