To my great dismay, I noticed some white deposits or discolorations on the paint of my two-tone champagne '85 yesterday. The spots wouldn't scrub off with dish soap, and I even tried some white vinegar to no avail.
I hurried to the trusted local hand-wash place (these guys were in the process of washing a Maybach, so I'd think they're legit), and the guy told me that the spots were "concrete droppings" that resulted from parking under concrete. He explained that water that runs over concrete acquires lime and leaves these marks.
The guy at the wash said that I may need to take it to a body shop to get it sanded and touched up. I'm wondering if maybe a polishing compound and/or some buffing will get it out.
This is my first Corvette, so here's my main question: are there different rules for how to approach something like this for fiberglass? What products are safe (and especially which ones are unsafe) for my Vette?
