Speedlines are a hint darker but the difference is not huge.

The Forged wheel that was offered in 2001 was made by Alcoa. For years 2002/3/4 the Z06 wheels were made by Speedline. There was a short period in the fall of 2001 were the factory ran out of Speedline rims and the forged Alcoa's were installed on a few 2002 models. Speedlines are a bit lighter (spun cast), but alcoas are a bit stronger (forged).

So side by side there is absolutely no physical difference?

No physical difference unless you look at the back. Alcoas are stamped GM and Speedlines are stamped Speedline Made in Italy.

I'm a little OCD so even though you probably couldn't tell, I would always know they were different and it would bother the heck out of me.

The Alcoa's have sharper edges on the spokes compared to the more rounded edges of the spokes on the Speedlines...

Compare them side by side and you will see what I mean.

Oh wow! Thanks Toque, I never noticed that before!

Did you buy two separate wheels or something?

A guy I met locally who bought a 01 Z06 was showing me his car one day a few years back. I immediately noticed the Alco's on the drivers side, and the Speedlines on the pass side. He has never noticed that before. I just knew the difference and pointed it out to him. We suspected the previous owner damaged the Alcoa's on the pass side and replaced them with Speedlines (not knowing the difference).
