Default battery relocation preference/difference?

I am wondering if any folks that relocated their battery used a chassis scale to gauge weight % changes?
Did you notice a change in handling?
Is it better to use one bigger battery in the rear center or two smaller batteries in the rear sides?

My reason for relocating the battery in my Z06 to the rear was to make room for a dry-sump tank. The following pictures show the succession of removing the battery and relocating the PCM to make room for the tank. Notice the PCM in the lower portion of the photo:

This photo shows the battery mounting bracket after it was cut off the frame rail:

Here is the frame rail with the bracket removed:

Next, I had to move the PCM outboard:

That left the following opening into which I will mount a dry-sump tank:

In any case, I would not rcommend twin batteries. My single battery is mounted in the center well.

I would put in pass rear side like drag racers do for traction and balance with driver. good luck.

i doubt if moving the battery to the trunk area will give a noticeable change in handling.

Is there an available kit for moving the battery to the trunk in the passenger side ?

It sure would be a GOOD idea to get it away from being over top of the computer. I hate hearing the horror stories of guys with leaking batteries that destroy there computers, and computer wiring...

Actually it is pretty significant. If the battery weighs 30 pounds and you move it the length of the wheelbase (from just behind the front wheel to just behind the rear wheel) you will change your weight distribution by 1%. That doesn't sound like much but it really is. You will be going from a weight distribution of 52/48 to 51/49. I can feel the difference between a half a tank of fuel and a full tank on the track and moving the battery will make about the same difference in handling. More important, it will help you put more power down coming off of corners and that will be noticable too.

I looked into this for one of my mustangs. I remember there was something about installing a cutoff, or fuse, inline in the trunk.

I used the LPE kit to move my battery from the front to the center well in the rear. It's expensive but it's a quality kit. The battery is anchored really well and the case is sealed and vented.

My supercharger's intercooler reservoir was blocking access to the battery. I wanted battery access, plus moving it to the rear helped offset some of the added weight of the supercharger.

Can't say I noticed any handling difference though.

I have seen the Lingerfelter kit, convenient for sure but pricey as well. Manual battery on/off switches are used in drag racing so that the power can be switched off by anyone from the outside in case of an accident. There are some alternative on off relays I have seen someplace that could also serve as an antitheft with power off if set up correctly.
Solofast thanks for the info, 1% can make a difference on a racetrack and any improvement is a plus for sure!

I don't see the point. Sure you can move #30 to the right rear quarter, but why not just put a #15 or a #11 in the same spot as the stock one. You save #15, plus every foot of cable weighs one pound. Just a thought.

because the dry sump tank takes that space up.
