It is time to refresh/replace the valve springs on my stroker and this is my first time around to have this done.
I have been advised to stay away from the double springs for my application.
So can someone tell me what springs would be best? (again no doubles)
What is a reasonable cost for them?
...and what would a fair price be to have them installed?
I would go with the PAC 1518 beehive spring. They're good to .650 lift, nitrated, and the spring rate is not that much stiffer than stock. The cheaper PAC 1218 is another good choice, but it's only good to .625 and it's not nitrated.
by whom and why. Doubles give you extra security in case of a spring failing.
from the 1st owner whom had the stroker built and installed via A&A and had the heads refreshed the 1st time via RPM: "I would suggest staying away from the double springs. They are safer, but less compliant and lower performance"
I will heed his advice, this stroker has 50,000 miles on it with no issues!
