Come on! That question has many answers.
Depends who is doing it.
Requires alot of work.
Regardless if you are doing the job or some one eles is doing it for you. Do some research, as to what all is involved, you more than likely will be surprised.
Steering rack has to be pulled along with the fans. The amount of time varies from your mechanical experience, what tools you have and where you do it. On a lift its not bad. You also can't reuse the bolt you pull on the balancer either

Unfortunately, Cole is 100% correct. It is a fairly large job because the rack doesn't necessarily have to come out completely, but it needs to be moved for sure. You can actually use the bolt one more time but only for the puller!!! You need to replace the bolt and get an aftermarket Harmonic Balancer (GM acknowledged their mistake but did nothing to rectify the problem).
Do you have a wobbling problem or squealing problem. The dealer looked at me and said "do you see that pulley wobbling?" I didn't see squat but replaced the tensioners and used a gatorback belt and the problem was solved. The stupid crank pulley has a plastic piece that breaks and makes the pulley wobble.
I pulled the rack or the damn thing gets in the way It's not a real easy job but i did mine the same time i did headers, Oil pump, heads, cam, intake manifold and stuff so i had half the car tore apart anyway The sucky part for me was that when i put it all back together i found i had no oil pressure and had a pinched o-ring so i had to get ANOTHER bolt and redo everything all over again by taking out the rack, fans and balancer

No dummy head you can reuse it if youre not a mentally retarded person and put it in carefully so that you dont cross thread it
that’s a little aggressive. Also, if you’re going to have all this labor intensive work done, a “dummy” would be someone who doesn’t spend 20 bucks for an arp bolt.

Well this is certainly new. Necro-bumping a thread that's 8 1/2 years old with the insults of a 5 year old and ABSOLUTELY incorrect information. Bravo, well played.
