Default The car took a hit....

Short story:
Went over a curb to avoid an accident, took a hit anyway. Insurance will cover repair or replacement.

Long story:
Saturday, I was driving on a 2-lane road when I saw brake lights on the Truck in front of me. I attempted to brake but got no traction (odd for a hot-dry day on asphalt. I later found out there was a patch of gravel on the intersection that kept my Toyo Tires from grabbing) I steered to the right to avoid a direct taking me into the grass and over a curb to a gas station driveway. The truck i was trying to avoid turned into the driveway and hit my car's driver side door and rear quarter panel. From what i can see damage includes the bumper both front quarter panels, Dewitts radiator, some damage to the undercarriage in front of the engine, front suspension damage, driver side wheels/tires, door and driver's rear quarter panel.

Pics:

Damage from the truck:

My tracks off the side of the road taken Sunday afternoon.

Interesting notes:
- The headlights survived completely! (Major win for the SLC's!!!!)
- My custom made Aluminum grilles also survived with powdercoat intact. (though 3 of the 4 were laying on the ground (the velcro did not hold lol)
- The driver's side corner light was completely destroyed, but the LED 3157 bulb was laying perfectly fine in the middle of the driveway after the accident.

Ironically, The replacement headlights are sitting in my garage. SLC V2s with Bezels and painted lenses. This will be the first time that My car doesn't get to be the first example of one of my products.

Hope the car can be fixed. Still waiting on the adjuster guy. If i can't get it fixed, the book value replacement value for my car is not that much. I REALLY hope it can be fixed cause i don't want to go though the mess of parting out my car to get the $$ for my aftermarket parts and then trying to find a new vehicle.

That SUCKS man! I hope it works out for you. Good luck getting the body lines matched up right - this may be your chance to get to "better than factory" on fit/finish. Post pics of the repaired version so we have a positive end to the story....

Oh that's a definite yes. I'm glad I didn't have my new side skirts or chin spoiler installed.

For the record: I suffered no physical injuries. I do however kinda have a heavily annoyed attitude toward driving. I live in a highly populated suburban area with LOTs of construction projects. It's not quite rush hour traffic, but just as aggravating. The accident just makes me not want to drive for a while.....it's just not fun anymore.

First off I'm glad to hear your OK! Your Vette took a pretty good hit but I've seen worse repaired perfectly. I'm sure I don't have to tell you to do your homework on finding a quality body shop, you probably already have one. Any type of accident leaves you with a lousy attitude towards driving, however gettting back on the road ASAP is the quickest way to shake the feeling, believe me, been there done that. You walked away unscratched and thats the important thing, so get your Vette fixed and shake it off! All the best bro!
