Default Need instructions for installing GMPP Red Spark Plug Wires

So, I purchased the spark plug wires from Gene and am ready to install them when I realized they sent me 3 instruction sheets, 1 in spanish & 2 in french.

Can anyone tell me which wires go to which cyclinder?

Thank you!

My vette doesn't have the original spark plug wires on there. They are autolite ones and the 1st one I pulled off is longer than all 8 of the gmpp ones.

The instruction sheet that came with the spark plugs has a length on there for each cylinder, but I want to read the instruction sheet before I just start doing it. The sheet also has 4 separate sets of instructions for different size engines, but I can't read it.

I was hoping that someone who bought the same set still had their instructions and could post what it says for a non-z06.

Even if you can't read spanish or french, I would think that you could still look at the directions and figure them out. Numbers are numbers.

I think mine were all about the same length. Just be careful to pull the plugs while the heads are dead cold and use anti-seize when you put the new ones in.

You are right! However, I wanted to "make sure" I had the right ones.

So it has 4 sections:

1. Small block v8 135degrees, then the length for each wire.
2. Big block v8 135degrees, then the length for each wire, which are different than the small block.
3. Small block v8 90degrees then, the length for each wire, which are different than both 1 and 2.
4. V-6, which is obviously not my car.

So, this is what it says for #1:

Cyl 1 - 27.0" Cyl 2 - 32.5"
Cyl 3 - 28.5" Cyl 4 - 24.5"
Cyl 5 - 24.5" Cyl 6 - 23.0"
Cyl 7 - 23.0" Cyl 8 - 22.0"

There is no way this is measured in inches. In millimeters, the longest plug is 22mm.

This is why I need the english instructions because even though they are numbers, I still need to know the unit of measure for the numbers.

Ummm, 22mm is less than one inch. Are you sure about that?

lay them all out from longest to shortest. start with the shortest and hold it in place at each cylinder until you find the one that takes the shortest wire. install it there and move to the next longest, then the next etc.

Based on the above list, it doesn't matter if they are using inches, centimeters, birds feet, or cellular phones as a unit of measure...

Cyl 8 = Shortest
Cyl 6 = 2nd Shortest
Cyl 7 = 3rd Shortest
Cyl 4 = 4th Shortest
Cyl 5 = 5th Shortest
Cyl 1 = 6th Shortest
Cyl 3 = 7th Shortest
Cyl 2 = Longest

So take all of the wires off, which no doubt are all longer than any one of the new ones and just try to match them up. I'm not sure I want to try that. There has to be a better way to do this. The new wires are of different lengths, but not by much.

So no one has the instruction sheet that came with the spark plugs.

for some reason i glossed right over that obvious reasoning.
come to think of it, when i did my wires i pulled them out of the box and stuck them on with no fitment issues. didn't even see an instruction sheet.

well it's not like you have to follow a firing order on a distributor cap or anything. the coil is right above the spark plug at each cylinder. the wire either reaches or it doesn't.

I really appreciate the help, but the measurement from the shortest to the longest seems quite significant (22.0 to 32.5). Whereas when I lay all 8 out side by side, the difference is very minimal.

Also, this is assuming that I am using the 1st section.

The numbers for the 2nd section are:

Cyl 1 - 29.5" Cyl 2 - 33.0"
Cyl 3 - 30.0" Cyl 4 - 27.0"
Cyl 5 - 25.0" Cyl 6 - 24.0"
Cyl 7 - 23.5" Cyl 8 - 22.5"

The numbers for the 3rd section are:

Cyl 1 - 39.0" Cyl 2 - 41.5"
Cyl 3 - 37.0" Cyl 4 - 35.5"
Cyl 5 - 32.0" Cyl 6 - 31.5"
Cyl 7 - 30.0" Cyl 8 - 29.0"

I may just have to wait until tomorrow and call GM Parts House for the english instructions.

So you're saying the wires don't have any special tolerances for each cylinder and that as long as it reaches it should be all good?

Also, I'm not trying to make this any more complicated than it has to be, I just want to do it right the 1st time. So I definitely appreciate the help!!!!!!

correct. it's all about the wire physically reaching from point A to point B.
i don't get those instructions. they have your longest wire growing from 32.5 to 33 to 41.5, depending on which engine you put them on? i've heard of magic beans, but magic spark plug wires?

are you absolutely sure you got the right set of wires?
