Shifter **** for C5
Hello All...new here. I was wondering if a C6 Z06 manual shifter **** will fit a 99 C5? I know this has probably been asked before...but would appreciate some advice. Thanks.

Yes it has been discussed...alot. You can probably find several threads in C5 Tech by clicking on search or search this forum (in the red banner) and using "c6 **** on c5" or similar as keywords. Previous technical threads are not deleted on this forum, so anything C5/Z06 related ever asked/answered can be found in the archives.
Easy answer is no it won't fit. You can modify a C6/Z06 **** to make it fit if you're handy at DIY. You can buy a modified C6/Z06 **** off EBAY for about $80 which will thread onto your oem C5/Z06 shifter. Or, you can buy a complete C6/Z06 shifter from GMPARTSHOUSE for about $200 which will bolt right up to your C5/Z06 car.
The C5/Z06 ***** are threaded in 9/16"-18 secured with a "demon key". The C6/Z06 ***** are not threaded. The end of the lever has machined flats which keep the **** from turning, and the **** uses an "ear" on the bottom which attaches to the lever shaft with a metric fastener.
Or, you can buy an after market **** with the same C5/Z06 threads and install it. There's a wide variety of after market ***** available. Some like the HURST ball style *****. Others like the Delrin ***** like this one...
