64 years old & got my 1st ticket today - I was parked in a public parking lot, across from a court house - when i got back to the vette there was a ticket on my windshield - no front license plate - When I park I lay it on the dash so it can be seen (it's a handi-cap plate) - ticket is 30 bucks - seems chicken snit to me but I guess thats the law so it is what it is - tom
thats weak, but if you fought it and dismissed it the court charges on the ticket will be $28 anyway. ive never seen a parking cop that didnt appear to be on the verge of stepping into the highway, if thats any consolation.
I wish CA would stop this front plate nonsense, we have bigger fish to fry
I wish they'd stop because it isn't necessary.
Laws are designed to protect people's health and rights. Traffic laws are designed to protect your safety.
No laws are supposed to be designed to raise funds. That is the reason this law needs to go bye-bye. The front plate law does not protect anyone's safety or rights. It does not benefit ANYONE other than the state. I do not see how the bill was legal to pass.

wow! 64 and your FIRST ticket was a parking violation?!!? Thats gotta be a record
You would be suprised how many criminals are caught because of these many BS violations/infractions.
No I wouldn't. My friends (CHP & PD) tell me all the time.
But that doesn't mean it's right. Same thing about juries; it's bull****. There should NOT be juries. Why is the fate being decided by the community when it should simply be a matter of available proof. The law is the law, and we find ways around it every day. Loop holes are created so the top 1% of America can get out of trouble if needed, but that loop hole isn't limited to the top 1%. The loop hole shouldn't exist in the first place. But unfortunately we're too corrupt of a society to not leave a way to get out of trouble.
We are a retarded, backwards, anti-progressive, greedy and corrupt society and it's no wonder we're always in trouble.

I don't know anyone here in Illinois who owns a Corvette that doesn't know our state requires a front license. It's also been the topic hundreds of times on this forum, and yet people complain when they receive a ticket for it. I spent 37-years in law enforcement and I personally don't think a front plate is that beneficial. If it is, then all 50 states should require it. You and I may not agree with it, but it is the law. I'd say from experience that a vast majority of arrests made during traffic stops are a result of minor traffic violations. I don't have a front plate on my car and I'm well aware of the consequences. I also know that if I ever receive a ticket for it, I won't complain about how unfair it is.
Live in New Jersey. We have the two plate law. Did not like mounting it either on the front until a vendor was offering the GM original part bumper insert that the plate fits into. Looks great;does the job and no flunking NJ inspection due to missing plate. We are so well protected here in New Jersey-we have a township cop for about every three citizens hiding at almost every corner not knowing what to do with themselves except harass a driver for doing 5 over OR missing a front plate!
All that crap aside, I have an 03 C5 Vert and absolutely love the car. It is a marval compared to most of its predecessors. Thank you Chevrolet for the C5!!

If you went that long before getting a ticket of any kind, you did good. Actually should have been longer IMO. At least it is a relatively cheap fine for the infraction.
Geezer outlaw. They should throw the book at him, ten to life....... wait!
Okay, let's go easy on the poor feller.
Seriously, there are two suburbs of Dallas that are definitely in the revenue stream promotion business. The mayor of one burb got upset by the "speed trap" moniker. Unless I'm missing something, the front license plates only function is to provide a laser aiming point. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'd seriously like to know.
You would be suprised how many criminals are caught because of these many BS violations/infractions.
Maybe every entrance to every public street should have a police officer there to check every single person that leaves their residence. I bet they would catch a couple criminals that way too.
Maybe each house should have a 24/hr police presence there also, that would drastically reduce crime.
Don't worry - I've been getting the tickets that you didn't so it all evens out I've had about 3 dozen in my life.
Aside from that, I think that writing anyone who is handicapped for a front plate violation is chicken snit, especially when it's in the front window. As I recall the frobt plate law only says that is has to be visible from the front, but it doesn't specify where in the front of the car is has to be.
I got stopped for that once when I had my 70 Superbird. The cop tried to tell me that I had removed it to fit my "custom body work" and also tried to cite me for "no front bumper". I happened to have a copy of the 70 Plymouth parts book pages and showed them to her. She ended up leaving when she realized she was wrong. A year later she stopped me again in my 70 Super Bee Six Pack. She claimed there was "too much exhaust comming out of the tailpipes", then tried to cite me for having headers. I showed her the factory ad for the optional header package and she ended up walking away again.
What a BS ticket. We do not have that law for a front plate in SC, but if we did you would realy have to pi*s me off to get that ticket.
This got me thinking... maybe it DID **** the cop off? I see a LOT of people with handicapped stickers pop out of their car and nimbly hop into the store. If you're handicapped, how are you getting in and out of a Vette?
