Hey guys, quick question for those who want to chime in, im in the market for a 99 or 00 ish corvette, coupe, prefer one fully loaded, hud, ect. Ive looked at a few, 3 of them in the 17k price range, with 100K+ miles, is that what i should expect to pay? there price is over KBB, and all the cars are super clean, well taken care of, with recent services, ect. (one has new alt, battery, a/c) I just feel that price is a little high for a 99 car with 125k, am I wrong? im located in Amarillo, Tx and been looking mostly local and not in big cities like dallas. Just want a fair deal. let me know your opinion! thanks
Nice looking, about 90K+ miles reasonably loaded.
'99 A4 worth about $12K-$14K
'99 M6 worth about $12K -17K
'99 FRC worth about $13K - $18K
Add about $3k for a vert.
first of all, everyone on here loves to de-value these cars for some reason. you are going to here that you should get a 35k mile car for 12k. And, if you are willing to look for that car for 5 years you will.
That being said, that price is a bit high considering the mileage. I bought my 99 fully loaded with 56k miles 3 years ago at 17. same car should be around 15k today. Condition is more important than mileage, imo. However, I would say that the car you are looking at with 125k should be around 13 or so from a private party, and 15 from a dealer, if loaded and everything in really good condition.
I just bought a '99 Nassua Blue FRC, one owner with 18650 miles on it for $18000.00 and it is absolutely gorgeous. I am more than happy. Is there better deals out there? Sure, but I got what I wanted and thats all that matters, not what someone else thinks!!!
Each area will have different values as well. When I was looking for mine, I did a LOT of internet searching and got a good feel for value based upon year, condition, model, mileage etc.
Look around the area....do every sort of Corvette google search you can and the usual suspects like AutoTrader etc.....
I'll sell you a 2000 coupe with 43,000 miles that looks like new and has every option for $18,500...........has BFG G-force tires less than 1,000 miles..
Bought my 99 coupe with 14k on it last Nov. for 17k it has 2 tops and is a m6. The car is a no extra paint car with the original tires on the car. I need to replace the tires because of thier age not from being worn out.
I paid $22,000 for my excellent/ brand new condition, fully loaded '99 convertible M6 with only 8,600 miles on it not to long ago in my area. That may sound high to some but given the fact that I looked at the exact same car '99 vert w/auto trans 54K miles and with many things worn out and needing to be replaced for only $500 less then what I paid for the one I got, I think I got a good deal on it. I also compared it to a 2002 coupe with 65K miles and in worse shape then the 1999 w/54K miles and they wanted even more for the '02 and it had the service ABS showing on the dash and needed to be fixed. Checked KBB and given the condition of my car, the low miles and all the options it has, their suggested retail value on it is $28,165 with a trade in value of $23,925 and a private party value of $25,865

Bought a 97 A4 with 57,000 mi. a year and a half ago for $11,000. One owner (older woman), garage kept, fully loaded and perfect condition. It did need tires.

The price for the three you mention is high to me - more like a $12-13K price range. Unless the cars are in exceptional shape with good maintenance records, I'd keep looking - there are better buys out there for the 17K price.
17K is to much for a 99 with over 100,000 miles!!! I bought my 97 almost two years ago for 16500..private owner though...only 42,000 miles...keep your eyes open and be willing to travel a bit if possible for a great Corvette.
Last year I paid $19,000 for my '99 six speed coupe with 52k miles on it. That included a set of brand new General Exclaim tires mounted on chrome thin-spoke wheels (taken from the 2001 sitting next to it on the lot). The car has all the options, was well taken care of and is in great shape. After I sold my 94 coupe it took me 5 years to find the perfect C5.
I purchased this 2000 FRC never been in the rain back in August of 2010 for $12750.00 with 26k miles.
I spent almost every spent moment I had searching the net...I called the guy 5 minutes after he posted it for sale. The car was in Northern California I am in Ohio.
I hire a 3rd party inspection company to look at the car....they gave it a 98/100.
I wired him the $$$$$ and had it shipped.
Been offered 20k+.......no need to sell it...I love it!
Keep looking be patient...have the $$$$$ when the deal presents it self...you will find your gem!
Everyone has a price point, but you need to buy what you WANT. In my case-'99 TR FRC show car from the second owner with about $10k in tasteful mods on it for $19k 3 months ago. Mileage 23.8k.

I'ld say you got a pretty good deal for a NB FRC with that few a miles. Good catch! Wish I would have found it when I was looking.
That's too much for such a high mile car. If your budget is $17k, you should be able to get something in the 40k-60k mileage range. I suggest broadening your search to other states and looking at metro areas. If you only look local, your selection is going to be very limited.

It is people like you that de-value these things, lol. Heck of a deal. But, to the OP I would say that the purchase price here is not typical, but the 20k offers he has had is much more typical. You may get lucky and find something like this, but, it is right place right time. Only for sale for 5 minutes, and there is a reason for that. Best thing, when you do get one don't think "was it a good deal?" If you are happy with the car and good witht he price, then the deal is good. Don't compromise what you want, as that is what you will regret more than price.
