Just swapped out my tranny fluid for some AMSoil yesterday. My buddy was nice enough to let me use his kwik lift (love the ease and safety of it!), which made the job much easier, but DAMN the postings on here about the fluid *shooting* out like a raging river weren't kidding! I tried catching it in my very large drain pain but it just bounced right off and I got about 1/3 of it on the floor. Yuck. I'm going to buy a large container instead so it doesn't have anywhere to "bounce" next time. All in all, though, the swap did make a little difference...car shifts even smoother now (was great before though too).
lol. didnt think about that. also didnt realize you were in GB even though you've posted in other threads of mine about where you were from.
my brain is tired
Oh I should ask you... Are you planning on going to that Custom Car Show in Sheboygan later this fall? I think it's at Blue Harbor Resort? I'm thinking of attending...
When I changed mine, I read the threads about the fluid "shooting" out. When I loosened the plug, I backed it out very slowly until the fluid started coming out around the threads. I kept it like that with the catch pan underneath, walked away, drank a beer on the back deck and came back to it about 1/2 hr later. Any pressure that was in there was released and a good amount of fluid was "slowly" drained. Opened it up and just let the rest drain. I am not sure if it was necessary but beats the hell out of cleaning up tranny fluid!
Good choice with the AMSoil and nice matching cars!

Ya, stupid me just assumed it would be ok, since I didn't have an issue with the differential or engine oil changes that I've done in the past. That will (hopefully) be the first and last time that happens!!!

I made a mess in my garage when i pulled the plug too. I had the fill plug out so there was no pressure built up anywhere. It just gushed out and I had to use Simple Green to clean the spots where it hit the floor.
Remember to pull the "FILL" plug FIRST ! It sure would suck if you drain it and can't get the fill plug off there...

Toque
Very good tip. I removed my fill plug first too, and let it sit for about 10 minutes before pulling the drain plug (there was some leaking out the fill plug and I wanted to let the fluid cool off a bit too). Glad I did...because holy cow whoever swapped the fluid before I bought the car really torqued it down!!! It took a ton of leverage to loosen that sucker (i.e. a very large monkey wrench). The drain plug was super tight too.
