How weatherproof is the sensor? I am thinking that this might be a good parking sensor for my daily drive. The car design is such that I can't judge where the front bumper is.

Here in the Boston area we can get quite a bit of snow and have sand and salt on the roads. Would this render the sensor inoperable?

Very weather proof....as long as the sensor is not cover in snow or debris it will work fine, might just need to wipe it off occasionally.

Thanks,

Jim

I'm impressed.
I installed something similar to the rear bumper of my rv after the third replacement tail light. Uses 2 sensors, and it does work well. Similar beeps, but gives a distance reading as well. Mine does not seem to be of the same quality as this unit.
One possibly dumb question. If calibrated for 3 inches, will it sense a taller obstacle? I watched the video and when reset for 3 inches it did not beep until the box got to that height.

Sure will....the min, is just that, the min....Anything taller it will see for certain.

Good question though....

Thanks,

Will it pick up your garage wall as a curb to prevent you getting to close to the wall.

Yes it will, especially if you aim he sensor more straight ahead instead of angled down.

I drove junk cars when i was a kid and always backed in
to have either the battery exposed for a jump, or the
car in correct position for a chain hook up to get towed.
It serves me well to this day as i always back my corvettes
in to avoid bumper damage. Had plenty of practice
backing up trucks

Funny, me too....I had a 69 Mustang that I had the same concerns and always thought of that kind of stuff when I would park it.

Introducing the "Cure for the Common Curb". Front end damage when parking is a very real problem for many cars on the road today, especially for vehicles who have installed ground effects or aerodynamic profile improvements on their vehicles. Curbs are something that are one of those road hazards that do more damage to sports cars than any other hazard on the road.

In fact, just a simple trip to the corner store can become a costly errand if you over-estimate your front end clearance when parking: damage repairs could easily run $1000 or more; however, Curb Alert provides you a warning system that gives you three-deep warning tones as you approach too close to a curb.

The Curb Alert is very easy to install and does not put a drain on your battery when the car is not on. Using a patented infrared technology, the front mounted sensor is calibrated to a warning distance of anywhere from 8-28" (you decide with whatever you feel comfortable with). The warning alarm is hidden in the car and will give you three gentle tones when you are within a specified distance to the curb. The system gives you a short beep every time you start your car to let you know the system is active.

The Curb Alert is one of a kind and is a gadget that will save you money in the long run, preventing front end damage to any car that is low enough to be vulnerable to a Curb. Do not take a chance, get the Curb Alert to prevent curb damage.

This is not one of those gimmicky products, we have installed it on a Corvette C6 Z06, Nissan GTR, and a Dodge Challenger. In all instances it works exactly as described (we wanted to test it ourselves before we opened the flood gates ) It is the real deal and will save you money in the long run. Heck it might it even give you enough confidence to let your significant other take the car for spin (my biggest worry letting someone else drive my car is there lack of familiarity with judging the curb distance when parking)

Install is pretty simple. You wire it direct to your battery (it is fused). Hardest part is getting the three wires through the firewall....

Installation Instructions Below

We have the Curb Alert in stock and with free shipping.... at the link below...Also have a great video that shows how the system works and another video on how to calibrate it once installed.

Thanks,

Jim

Sad to say I can't hear the beep on the video. My wife can, but not me.
My old mistreated ears can't hear high pitches. Guess I may try the backing in approach.

You can probably here it in person.....The speaker for the curb alert was a bit too far away from the camera when we shot the video.

I am betting you will be able to hear it just fine....

Thanks.

Thanks for the C5 installation video. One question: Where does the control module go in the C5? In the C6 video it tucks in near the BCM and is then hidden by the 'false floor" panel. However, the C5 video does not discuss this step. Thanks!

It is in the same place as the C6, tucked away under the false floorboard (where the ground is) by the BCM. Should show it there in the video....

Take a look again, it is there.

Thanks,

Jim

We also just added a C5 Install video and a custom package for the C5 to make installation a breeze.

You can checkout the video here. Video is at the bottom of the page.

If you want to order, just choose the C5 package on the drop down menu.

Looks like a quality product, but I am concerned with loud exhaust that I might miss the quick three beeps. Is there anyway to have it remain on as it does in the calibration mode?
