Is there enough guys wanting a 4 post lifts to get a group buy going? Someone tried on the C-6 forum and it just kinda went away, seems like their was about 7-8 guys wanting one.I've been looking at either the Superlifts SJ7000 or the bendpak HD9.Seems like the Bendpak guys won't do a GP,I've been talking to the guys at Superlifts but not about a GP,I could ask if they would if enough guys would want to do one.If your interested either let me know here or on a PM and I'll call them again if there are at least 5 guys, either way I will be ordering one in about 2 weeks. As far as the Superlifts SJ7000 there seems to be a few guys that have bought them on the forum and it all seems like they are liking them, one last thing, its been a few years since there has been a GP on 4 posts that I can find so hopefully now is the time for another one.
No one wants to get in on one of these? It looked like the last time there was a GP on Superlifts was about 10 yrs ago,and I think about 10 lifts were bought.Oh well if no one wants in I guess I'll just get one for myself! The one thing that everyone who has bought a lift has said is Why did I wait so long, can't wait to get home and install the one I'm going to order soon. Thanks for looking though.
I already have one. Sure makes things a lot easier to do. I even lift the car to clean it. No more bending over to clean the wheels. Hope you enjoy yours as much.

Which brand did you go with? any complaints? Not set on the Superlift 100% yet,but I do like that they come with the 36" Aluminum ramps, drip trays and casters. The bendpak all you get is the lift, all the extras would be another 5-600 more and the lift is also 300 more than the SL.
I own TWO 4 post lifts...a Backyard Buddy (purchased close to 20 years ago) and a Gemini..which has got to be close to 10 years old now ...PLUS I own a low level scissor lift for doing tire/brake work that only raises a car about 4 foot off the ground...
Several friends own several different brands and I personally like my BYB ,,,I just "think" the 4 sided posts are a little more stable then the open sided posts on some lifts...BUT gosh I've never had any second thoughts on my decision to safe a buck and go with a Gemini instead of a second BYB..
Drip pans are nice..BUT on most lifts you can make your own for under 5 bucks ...Most rams are heavy even even the 3 foot long Aluminum ones ...I had a local shop fabricate a pair of shorter Aluminum Ramps for both of my ramps for under 50 bucks... did this because with a car on the lift I store the ramps behind the rear tires on the ramp to give me more walking room around the thing..and because of the weight...
Casters... ?? I can not remember how many times I have moved my lifts...(definitely not more then a couple of times over the years...and then only a short distance.. I cut 18 inch piece of 2" PVC piping ut of a bunch of left 10 foot long PVC pipe and just jack up the lift and place 5-6 pieces under each post and move them like the Egyptians did..
Jacking tray ? yes they work BUT what a pain ... too much of a hassle to put a car up then jack one wheel up..went out and purchased a low level lift that raises all 4 wheels off the ground just to do brake work...
Just my thoughts on the subject...
My son in law is now looking for a 4 poster..and unfortunately my neighbor died 2 years ago and his wife sold his 4 poster this winter ...guy paid her $1000 (steal) but has yet to pick it up... ???? ..Seems I seem to be always a day late...
At today's shop rates it won't take long to pay for a lift and an ALDL connector and software. I bought the manual and ALDL for my '90 roadster and the first time I had a problem it paid for itself. I just had an issue and it cost me $450 to get a valve spring replaced. This isn't to say I could have done it but more to demonstrate cost savings with DIY equipment. Now I have everything but the lift.
I might be interested in a GP, but I'd like to see more shopping around. I Googled home auto lifts and there are a lot of options. I'll watch this thread or we can start PM going.
Hope I'm not sounding like a d!ck, but If I were you I'd not worry about a GP with others when buying a lift.
These lifts are designed differently for different applications.
Example, will the lift be for working on the car or more for storage.
A GP might save a person a few bucks when it's all over but thats about all.
I live down the road from where superlifts "use" to manufacture the lifts. I also live down the road from where this guy is selling the lifts now in nixa.
I wont buy a superlift and I didnt buy a superlift from them either.

Just curious, what brand is the small lift you have for doing brakes etc.? Thanks for any info.
I have a direct lift Pro park 8000. It came with the ramps and trays and jack tray and wheels. Yea, all those things can be done without, but they make it nicer. I haven't moved mine in three years, but the wheels make it much nicer/easier to move.
I'm very happy with mine, even though the cylinder started to seep and I had to have the cylinder fixed. New o-rings and it is as good as new. I love my lift, but I use it mainly for storage of the Vette (park the wife's DD under it. It is very stable and I have no qualms parking my car one under the other. I also do not have it bolted down to the floor, no stability problems.
Oh, I purchased the aluminum ramps separately, they weigh about half what the steel ones do. I thought I could build them cheaper....No, I couldn't buy the materials as cheap as I bought the ramps.
Someone else may be able to purchase sheets of aluminum plate cheaper than I though.
I have the Atlas Garage Pro 8000 from Greg Smith Equipment. I live close enough to Indianapolis that I was able to look at it first, buy it and drag it home on a trailer. They guy who sold it to me was Greg Smith himself. The lift is great. I have it bolted to the floor and it is very stable.
I park my restored 1968 Mustang Fastback Bullitt clone either above or below my Corvette depending on which car I am using. I have never had a concern with it.
Greg runs a quality operation. I paid $1699 for mine and it has gone up $100 since then. At $1799, it priced low enough that you don't need a group buy. Or as Greg told me, "it is $1.00 per pound. You can't even buy hamburger for that!".
