Default H U D Question

I guess this is normal, but is the display hard to see during the sunny day time. It's turned all the way up and I have it set to only display the speed. I did clean the glass as well.

Might be silly question but is it aligned vertically best for your sitting position?

I pretty much ignore mine during the day so never consider if its bright enough or not.

Yes, I have it set correctly. I agree, I don't use it during the day and keep it turned off.

Just a stab in the dark (no pun intended) but if its the case that you are wearing polarized sunglasses, thats going to also block most of the HUD display from your vision. My glasses are polarized and I still use the HUD, night or day...love it

Ok, simple question for you...is the HUD normal intensity at night? If it is but dim during the day, then the problem is the HUD's internal light sensor has failed. Its mounted in the top of the HUD. You can see it through the windshield at the very top center edge of the hud as a little hole. They don't sell the sensor by itself and the only fix is a new HUD unless you can find a new sensor.

The HUD doesnt use the ambient light sensor on the dash like the rest of the instrument lights?

Yes, this is normal. I've had four HUD cars and they were all difficult to see in bright sunlight.

It has its own built in light sensor and it does not use the one on the top of the DIC. At night, it uses the normal intensity ****/slider and it has some effect on the day-time operation but understand that there is a light sensor installed inside the hud. I know, I had to replace my HUD for this very reason and had the old one all apart which is why I know about the light sensor in the middle top edge.

When the sun hits the dash area at a certain angle, it will wash out the HUD display on the windshield. So yes, it is normal.

Do you have the original windshield? There is a special windshield for the HUD equipped cars. If you get a replacement window a lot of places ignore the HUD window specs because it's a lot more money. It's supposed to be easier to see the HUD on a HUD spec windshield. Many people can see it just fine on a non-HUD windshield too though. But some can't. The symptoms I believe are that it just can't focus correctly. So when you can see it or at night can you see it clearly?

By the way, I can see mine at night and in the day time just fine. Of course it's easier to see at night but I have no problems in the daylight with polarized sunglasses or without.
